Jet lag is when you spend time in another Time Zone. When you return 'jet lag' takes place, setting off your body clock.
For example: England is 5 hours (DST) ahead of America. You fall asleep at 9 P.M. in England every night.
When you return to America, which is 5 hours behind, you will feel sleepy at 4 P.M., because your body is used to falling asleep at 9 P.M. English time (the equivalent of 4 P.M. American).

I hope that clears it up.
