People watching? I don't think it is at all. It's the foundation of sociology, after all... And "people watching" isn't "staring intently at one person making them hella uncomfortable," it's more "observing a large amount of people and their behavior."

It's pretty interesting imo.

 

Plus, you don't even need to be a passive observer. Simply doing things with other people gives you a chance to observe their behavior. In fact, we pretty much do it all the time, whether we realize it or not. How else would we be able to see people we'd like to be friends with?
