He' s talking about Valkyria Chronicles, not Valkyrie Profile. I played the beginning of the game, I really liked the universe, art direction and concept ... however a few user-unfriendly gameplay aspects made me give up. I' m specifically talking about the unfair success hit rates : your characters can easily miss a short distance shot but the computer can one-shot snipe you from unbelievable distances without even trying. Since we can' t level up our team at all I quickly ended up saving before every single action, and loading if I screwed it up, but it made me spend more time waiting than playing and even then the game remained quite hard and the battles super lengthy.
....You can't level up your team? not true, you can level up all classes up to level 20, increasing all stats and bonuses, and developing stronger weapons with better sights makes it so your shots are dead on, by the end of the game if you focus on accuracy weapons you'll have snipers who will hit any target if it's in their line of sight.
oh brother, how long will it take for me to read the title and know which game it is? But I actually played a little when me and a friend went to a mall for a gaming thing. They were letting you play new games on the different systems. I think I got cheated a few times while playing it
I've never found the game to act "cheap", challenging on the other hand yes, as long as your tactics are well thought out and you use the right units for the right jobs it doesn't really seem to matter, I won't say i've not missed some easy shots, but c'mon, if every shot was 100% accurate it would be so mindless there'd be no point to it.
Well yeah, but everything' s caped just as in FFXIII, and I usually don' t mind leveling up for hours but in this game it was an incredibly slow and boring task. I gave up at a mission in a desert, shortly after snipers were introduced. Maybe the game gets easier the further we get ? Oh well, my PS3 CD player died a while ago anyway.
Easier? ahaha nope, last few missions can take hours to beat if you use "real" tactics, i know of some cheap ways to ruin some of the fights, enemy snipers are never as hard as your own, they tend to target your own snipers anyway, and moving people up behind your tank saves them from fire, like a said, all about dem tactics.
Maybe you should get NieR first. Specially considering how you might want to give up in Valkyria in certain stages.
I really enjoyed what I played. Though I got stuck on that massive tank mission and never got round to completing it. So I just watched my friend do it instead.
I know that feel bro, that mission is really tricky, but the tough part is realising that in comparison it's a really easy mission compared to later on.
I really love this series! The gameplay just felt like a natural evolution of Fire Emblem. And the story is pretty great too. I just wish Sega localized VC3, it seemed like it was going to be the defining game for the series. I wouldn't say VC2 was bad but at times it felt like a chore to get through some of the missions, whereas VC1 had some pretty unique parts throughout the game.
Love the characters and the story, but the gameplay is really not me. My turns become an absolute chore because of my playstyle, where I tend to want to use just a small number of soldiers. They get tired so quickly, dammit.
