It's actually a pretty bad show. It's only become an icon among certain people for it's visual style, and if it weren't for that it would have sunk into oblivion like most other Nick shows.
Wow, you don't seem to like anything from before 2005. I liked Invader Zim when I was a kid and even though it's not as good as I remember, it still has good entertainment value thanks to nostalgia goggles and certain jokes that I didn't get when I was younger. It only got bad when in the last season, and even that had some quality episodes. As for its "distinct visual style" that kept it from sinking into oblivion, how do you explain Angry Beavers, Aaaaah! Real Monsters, and Rugrats? All of those had very generic visual styles and they're still popular among the people who knew Nick when it was still Nickelodeon.
In fact, most of the things that I like come before 2005, and nearly everything else comes from or before 2009. I could probably count the number of things that I like that have come out after 2010 on one hand.
I never watched it when I was a kid, but my family watches it on Netflix now sometimes. I guess with that show, it's a hit or miss. Most of my family thinks it's hilarious, but my mom hates it, she thinks it's just stupid.
