No Thanks Nostalgia rep weekend?

I knew we had one a few months ago, but many members liked it so I thought it'd be cool to do it again. What do you think?

My UserCP will become completely unusuable for the weekend. No, the normal rep doesn't do anything. It's fine. The many, many video reps I've given and received, however, may cause some problems.

Could someone explain what a "Rep-Weekend" is?

 

It was something we did a while back where the rep shown in the User CP was extended to a very high amount so that you could see all the rep you had received before. The rep given mod wasn't installed at the time, but there was a lot of nostalgia going around about what you had been repped for.


I do agree it should be a regular thing but I'm not sure how often. annual maybe?

 

So that is +1 for a repeat in general, just -1 for a repeat now. Correct?

I'm pretty sure it was almost a year since we had it the first time, and we haven't had it since then, have we? Or have I gone mad?

I think P has ruined this for a lot of people, but I support it.

 

I'm for this. Last time we did it I took screen shots of all my rep and had it saved on a word document but then I basically lost that document ;-;

Nostalgia Rep Weekend was March 6th-7th this year so it has been nearly 8 months. I think making it an annual event would work well.

I was one of those who supported keeping that permanent but collapsible (so as you can collapse it and easily move to your Rep Given module instead of scrolling down and down and down if you have an immense amount of rep), but RvR said they won't do this unless it becomes optional as a few members didn't want it, which most likely won't happen.

EDIT: As for the whole pictures-gifs-destroying-my-CP thing, Staff used to look into abusive de-rep, maybe make a thread where someone can pinpoint specific rep of theirs (date and/or comment) and staff deletes the image/video, then make a rule about that (no gifs/videos, only links, or something), though I'm sure staff would rather not.

 

I would love this. I've recieved one or two bits of rep with pics and gifs cough-Lulus and Enzy-cough so it wouldn't be that bad.

Making it an annual thing would be nice, and then I could totally reminisce about my noob days when my posts were at a smiley to text ratio of 9.9:0.1

This isn't a bad idea considering how bad it'd be going to the userCP and having like 5 videos go off and crashing your everything.

And well, enforcing a rule means more restrictions and more work. But if it's required, it's required. That said, some would still dislike it.

 

Maybe have it be allowed but in spoiler tags (assuming those work in rep)? I'm not sure if page loading looks at what is in the spoiler tags but last time we were finding that hardly anyone was having any trouble with loading times, it was just media clutter.
