Excuse me while I laugh my ass off.

But on a more serious note, Nintendo's online implementation leaves so much to be desired, it's ridiculous. The fact that each game requires friend codes, lack of a decent way to communicate with people, and the fact that the whole system was designed around local play, I can't see any worth in paying for it to get online to play games. Sony is so far ahead of Nintendo it's crazy, as well as Microsoft being the king of online. Sony's behind Microsoft in the online area just a little bit but Nintendo is barely even on the map. So I think this will only work if they implement it on the next console that they come out with and start fresh with everything.

I'll pay for this, Nintendo, but only when you update your flipping system. I want a name that I can use for every game, not a stupid friend code, and I want my own profile. You will NOT charge me if you don't change anything about your online system, as I don't use it that much anyway, only for the channels, DSi and Wiiware systems, and sometimes Mario KArt.

Technically the PC is head of the online game community, they make up about 80 percent of the whole thing.

I wouldn't bother at all. Hell it's free at the moment but I know it's pretty much crap at the moment so I haven't even bothered. It won't expand their Market unless they revamp the whole thing.

I think they should wait till the next generation before they do something like this. Just means I won't be getting it cause I ain't paying for it
They make enough money from the DS as it is they shouldn't really need to do this for anything more than expanding gameplay but I always feel cheated when you have to pay for this sort of stuff. Hence why I don't play MMO's with a monthly fee and avoid the console that makes the letter x weep along with the Box Ghost.

Paying money for subpar services while I can get easy (and free) access on my PS3? No thanks.

Monkeyman brings up a point that Nintendo seems to be missing; the PS3 can get online for free, provided you have an internet connection in your household. In a world where online gaming is extremely popular, the difference between having to pay and not having to pay could mean that the player will buy the PS3 over the Wii. Financially, it does seem nice to rake in more and more money whenever someone wants to play online, but it can hurt sales drastically.

I personally like the system of "this is free and you can do great fun stuff with the free online gaming, but there are some little things you can buy with money."

This system works well for a lot of online games where playing online is free but special items that can make it easier to play or make you better than others cost money which some people will pay if they get into the game deep enough. If they use this system (free online but with costs on items in the online store) then there'd be profit by the number of users over profit of how much your getting paid by subscription fees. Nintendo and Sony could dominate the market next generation with this if Xbox keeps up with the online cost. Nintendo shouldn't have a cost for it's online.

I agree that the PS3's online system being free is far better than paying for it. I have both an Xbox 360 and a PS3 but I really feel that PS3 had the better idea. Nintendo should keep it free, but as someone had said above, use profiles instead of friend codes. Its just so much more organized and far less of a hassle to do anything with.
