Well seeing as how the system won't be out until April 2011, the price can either drop or stay the same. I did the conversion and this would be about 300 American dollars. Also people need to remember that some things tend to cost more in foreign countries than they would in America or Japan.

 

Thank God it will take some time before it's out. That's a hell lot of money for a portable.

 

To be fair, the amount of power and the capabilities of this system appear to surpass anything we've seen before on a portable level, so I expect a somewhat steep price. I couldn't see it ending up as more than £200.

 

And of course you're saving yourself buying a 3-D TV.

 

And the glasses. So would this actually end up being cheaper than upgrading for a 3D PS3/360?

Just thought I would bump this thread and say that Nintendo president Satoru Iwata says that they won't be selling the console for less than production cost. The production cost for the 3DS are higher than the original DS. The original price for the DS was $150 so I'm thinking that the 3DS will cost somewhere around $200. It could end up costing more though since it does have cameras, more processing power and 3D

 

I read that, for the UK at least, that the system will arrive some point at the very end of this financial year and won't cost more than £200. I'm perfectly fine with that...well, the price not the date. xD

 

I'm going to wait for the better and improved slim or 'i' version to come out before I get this. Plus the price will be way cheaper.

Nintendo is out of pocket for this. There has never been a nintendo system worth the money I paid for it (maybe the N64 was). I have the feeling that this system is going to be an over priced let down to most of the people that get it (just like the original DS was to me).

They don't mean the value of the quality of the games for it. They mean it will not cost less than the cost of the parts that they use to make it.

 

A rip off? Considering that most 3D TV's are £5000, while this will be much less and and without 3D glasses.

Also Australia always does end up being overpriced for most things.

How the hell is it a rip-off? I've only been hearing good about the 3DS and I've seen some of the games for it and they don't look disappointing at all.

 

^This. And didn't they say they were planning on making some films available in 3D for it? Portable 3D films? Yes please! That, and from what i've heard/read it's fantastic to see. And there's months and months till it's released so start saving your pennies if you're worried about the price. xD

 

Supposing this thing gets released in April 2011 and costs 300 bucks (which is the worst scenario) someone will have to save a buck a day till it gets released. But since that someone is a patient person, he will wait a couple of months too, before he buys it, to see reviews and if it's worth the money in general. So that makes it like... 3/4 of a buck a day. And because that's the worst scenario, he will actually need less money to save a day until you buy it.
But there's also the games and the movies you are going to buy, but that is a different story xD
