Both Tarot and Nightwish are indeed metal bands, Nightwish is just symphonic metal while Tarot is traditional heavy metal. Still, Nightwish is quite good, though not as good as other symphonic metal bands such as Epica. Really, I'm not sure why they get so much credit, I guess its because they were one of the first symphonic metal bands to become highly known. Also, fun fact: the video of "Wish I had an Angel" was directed by Uwe Boll. The scary part? Its actually not a bad video.

I should look it up some time, but i thought that the Dark Passion Play Album was really good.....considering the first song that i heard by them was Nemo...and it was played as the songs for a Kingdom Hearts video......hahaha
I'm not sure which singer I prefer for Nightwish, Tarja Turunen always comes to my mind first when I see/hear the bands name, but I like Anette Olzon's voice better, it's a bit easier to listen to. But the reason I'm not such a big fan of them is because I can't stand the fact that neither of the singers can pronounce English even remotely properly... Eh, I've always liked Evanescence and Within Temptation better from the Symphonic Heavy genre...
If Evanescence is symphonic metal, I'm the king of Norway. They are the similar, but far lighter symphonic rock. As for not pronouncing English properly, they are European, their accents are going to show and Tarja's voice is very operatic.
Owwwwww, Foreign B***h Slap......I'm just kiding.....but if you listen to Nemo, you can hear a Oprotic *made-up word* tone to it towards the end of the song......
Eh, I like some of their stuff, but not all of it. I'm a very strange music listener. The only bands I have ever loved completely are E.S. Posthumus and Dragonforce. The first time I heard them was Planet Hell on a Runescape glitch video (the 6/6/06 one, if there are any Runescape players in the crowd), and I loved it, but could never find it again. I never even learned the name of the song. After I came to Youtube and started poking around the KH videos, I heard a song and said to myself "you know, that sounds familiar...". It was Nemo. in the peak of my playlists' lifetime, I had maybe a dozen (?) Nightwish songs on it. Before Youtube came through on a copyshit spree, that is.
Hmm, I've always seen Evanescence classified as either Symphonic Heavy or Gothic Rock, and since Lee's look is the only thing remotely gothic about them, I've said that they're Symp.Heavy... And yes, I know they're European, I'm from Finland myself, yet you can barely tell that by listening to me speaking. And being European doesn't stop you from learning pronunciation. Sharon del Adel sings in excellent English, so does Ville Valo, and a countless more less known European lead singers/artist. I wasn't saying that Tarja Turunen was worse at singing because of her opera-style, I was just saying that Olzon is easier to listen to in my opinion. I'd actually say thet Turunen is more talented, but talented doesn't always mean more likable.
I mention Tarja's operatic style as it helps explain why her pronunciation is off. As for Evanesence, I would agree that they are gothic rock, but I still disagree on them being symphonic metal. Of course, I also think they are complete garbage, but that's just me. I would much rather listen to bands like Epica, Xandria, Battlelore or Luca Turilli's Dreamquest over Evanesence, but that's not the topic at hand.
Evanescence are not metal, period. No matter what genre you put them under. What the hell are you people talking about.
They are my third fav band :D I first heard them in year 7 and just loved them to death! people thought I was weird o.o not good when you are just starting high school for people to already think your weird XD thats why today not many people like me >.>
I heard about Nightwish a couple of years ago. I have about 60 songs from them and I have to say that my favourites are Dark Chest of Wonders, End of All Hope, The Kinslayer, Meadows of Heaven and Ever Dream. I loved Nightwish with Tarja as the singer but I don't mind their new album.
I like the new singer much better, her voice seems much sweeter to me. I really like the song Last of the Wilds from Dark Passion Play, its probably my favorite. I have considered getting that album.
I think that Dark Passion Play is my favorite album at the moment, because Bye Bye Beautiful is on it and we listened to it today in Class, it was wierd......
