No Thanks News?

Now I know we are KHV and we are a kingdom hearts fan site...but why not expand in the news section?

For example...when was the last time we got any new news? A long time.

Maybe we should start doing little news updates (on the homepage) about other games that are relatively popular in the forum.

It would not only allow people to discover new titles, but it would make this site seem like its a bust site.

Just a thought.

 

To 8e fair, the General Game Chat section doesn't attract half the attention that the front page does. This suggestion would mean that we'd appear more active, and potentially get more visitors.

 

I would have no problem with this if it weren't for the fact that this is a Kingdom hearts site. If we were a general gaming site then sure, but this site is specifically about Kingdom hearts media and therefore it shoud probably stay that way. Just my $0.02.

 

Personally, I support the idea. It seems like we're getting less and less news regarding the games. Sure, it's because the news has already been reported, but maybe if we branched out from JUST Kingdom Hearts to reporting the odd rumor regarding other Square Enix and Disney games and their possible content it would attract more members. Like P said, it would also make the site more active. Then people would stop complaining about how "KHV IZ DED LOL!"

 

I agree with expanding to the news section to Disney and SE (Definitely SE) related pieces. The site would certainly attract a wider range of users.

 

I feel like if we start with this, we'll eventually end up expanding the entire site to Square Enix. Not sure how I feel about that.

But I do think we should include Disney and Square Enix. I mean, without either of those, we don't have Kingdom Hearts.

 

Obviously khv will always be dedicated to KH but there is little to no news about the series at the moment. It doesn't look good having the front page not be updated for a while. Any news, be it Disney or SE would be better.

 

It's a good idea and I'm all for it (make khv as big as it can get) but that's too big a suggestion for the normal members to make, it's up to the staff to discuss and decide since there are also many technical problems that will have to be overcome (not easily). Then we could add our input.
But then again they didnt say anything yet or close the thread and decline it.

 

... Is that not the point of this section? To suggest things?

 

Currently there isn't that much Square Enix-related news, either. Personally I think we should wait until E3 starts to act upon any "new news" related things.

I would just make our site look like it is busier. I know most of you don't care but think in terms of a potential member thinking of joining the site. If the home page hasnt had a new update in like a month it kinda gives off the impression that the site is either dieing/dead/or has low member traffic.

Now, obviously you are all gonna say it cant be done...but we do have more than one reporter and we also have many of members (myself included) that good and search the internet for news tidbits about SE related games.

I don't think its a bad idea, it keeps one staff group semi busy and it gives other members a chance to be exposed to games they might not normally try. While making our little site look like a booming news hub.

 

Kingdom Hearts news has been slow for the past few weeks, but that doesn't mean our homepage has been dead. It gives us an opportunity to work on projects for the site and make announcements regarding them. We've had the Podcast, the Fandub, the Top 5, etc, as well as already present content like the videos, which we hope will attract KH fans even when there isn't news.

There is the possibility of spreading oneself too thin. We're a Kingdom Hearts site, and we don't pretend to be anything more than that.

 

From what I gather, the Coders have a fair few new discoveries that they've made. It may be worth investigating, to see whether there's anything front-page worthy tucked away in the Code Vault.

 

It's not about "Pretending we're anything more than that" or anything. It's more about attracting members.

Think of it like a small country. We can't just have people who were born IN that country (Or people who like Kingdom Hearts). We have to let other people in who are from other places, or who have different interests. I mean, sure we have the General game discussion and the Art section and literature and stuff, but sometimes, it's hard to get a thread going when you seem to be the only one that likes a certain game or author.

I know that between KH2 and BBS, I haven't played any Kingdom Hearts game seriously. If we increase our range of subjects and such, more people who are usually guests will see the front page and think "Oh! I like that topic!" and then they may see another one and say "Oh! I like that topic too! This site is alright. I'm gonna go register."

 

So pretty much anything in that bbs thread I made that only staff can see. but they don't reply

 

lol, be proactive. Don't wait for them to come to you; you should go to them! PM someone and ask them to post it up for you.

 

Because it would be posted in the coder's corner I need the green light from the other coders. They respond. Just not often or quickly.
I will probably end up asking RvR if I can just post a vid. Which I still need to make.

 

The only way this website can increase traffic is to expand its news range. And it's the best move right now. All these podcasts and contests and stuff do not play a role in the traffic. And it is going to rise a little in the summer, then fall again in normal rates afterwards.
