At certain times of the year, many Anime fans go to conventions and they often Cosplay. Some of you may already know this, but some of you may not. Either way this guide is for you!

    What is Cosplay?
Cosplay is a term used by fans that refers to dressing up as an Anime character.

Where can I get a costume?
There are many places to get a costume, but your best bet would be cosplay.com

    How much are the costumes?
Depending on who you're cosplaying it can be anywhere from $50.00 or more.
A Sakura Haruno costume for instance, is $50.00.

Once you have your costume and tickets to a convention, plan on taking a lot of money for expenses such as merchandise, food, etc.

Remember to follow con rules and moral rules.
Also, remember that you are seeing a costume, not the actual character!

You don't know how badly I want to cosplay, I always wanted to go as Sora but it's so expensive for the outfit and wig. I tried millanoo but I've heard they don't send you the size you choose.

So now I'm making a civilian version of an Organization XIII jacket.

Why don't you try various cosplay shops? The prices range from each one.
You may be able to find one within your price range.

Thanks, I live in a backwater town in Geogria. Cosplay isn't the hottest thing around where I live.

Moved to the Usual Spot, since the Anime and Manga section is specifically for Anime Series/Movies and Manga.

I'll add something here: follow what my group and I do. The 1-2-5 rule.

This means at least 1 shower daily, 2 meals, and at least 5 hours of sleep. It's easy to go overboard at cons and forget things like basic hygiene and other needs (plus, who wants to glomp a Sephiroth you can smell a mile away?) in favor of panels or other fun things. Add to that the likelihood that the other people in attendance are going to do the same thing, and you're likely to get what I call the "con plague". This is simply a cold or bug that someone brought in with them, and quite a few con-goers will get it by con's end. I myself got strep one year a week after the con, and some members on the con's messageboard wrote they too got sick. Best way to prevent that is to make sure you eat when you're hungry, get some sleep if you're tired, and take a shower when you return to your room for the day or when you first wake up.

I've been going to cons for 7 years now, I'd be happy to share any other tips people would want.
