Not sure if anyone else has seen this, but there's a new version of the PSP has been announced. There's a slight redesign as well as a price drop to 99 Euros. The catch? No wi-fi connectivity. Anyone else think this is a MAJOR waste of money that Sony could be putting toward the Vita? Source: http://pspslimhacks.com/new-psp-model-announced-gamescom-no-its-not-the-vita/
Since it has no Wi-Fi, I don't think I'll ever decide to get it. Also, because of that, I don't think it'll make a lot of sales. However, what would 99 euros being in American money?
Not worth it. As long as the PSP at least had Wi-Fi I'll buy it, but without it its practically worthless other then being able to play BBS on it. The Nintendo seems to be doing so much better this year with it's little DS, Even DD(DreamDrop) is coming out on it.
I don't know, it's just widening a demographic really. Those who want the power system will go for Vita of course, those who really want nothing else than to play games can for this little guy. And I'll be honest, I haven't touched Wi-Fi on my PSP since I've gotten my smart-phone. I would probably only miss it the once in a blue moon I actually do a bit of co-op with Ad-Hoc.
It's not worth it in my opinion. I'd be surprised if this actually gets a lot sold, because people will probably either be buying used ones or new ones with wifi or waiting to buy the PSV. Even I would buy a more expensive version, because I'm not buying anything without wifi. I'm already stuck without wifi as it is because we've got WPA
I finally buy a PSP and now they come out with a WIFI-less one? I've used the wifi on my PSP all of one time for about 5 minutes. I don't consider wifi a necessary part of it (for myself, at least) so this would have been something I would have loved.
Never used the wi-fi on my... probably seven or eight year old PsP by now. If they had come out with a cheaper version without wi-fi at launch then I would have bought it. Online stuff isn't fun on a handheld in my humble opinion. I think this might do decently, though probably not.
Slight update here. Tech specifications and comparisons with the other two most successful models have been released. Source: http://pspslimhacks.com/e1000-detailed/ Also in the source are several photos of it, also comparing it to other models. Design looks cool, but the lack of wi-fi will still probably hurt it a lot.
Yeah, unless they change their minds and add Wi-Fi, I don't think I'll ever get it. I'll be sticking with my handy-dandy Wi-Fi one.
I dunno about the no wifi being a detrimental factor. For people who just want a PSP and good games (like BBS) at a reasonable price, this is perfect for them (lie PaWn has said). I think the only cases where no Wi-Fi being bad would be if it were say a Nintendo DS/DSi/3DS (because of series like Pokemon were Wi-Fi is a heavy part of the game), and the PSN. So yeah, I'm fine with this value PSP. And may even get it. :B
