OH my god. This is literally the best news out of all the announcements for me. I remember reading that the president of Konami had expressed interest in Kojima taking creative reigns over the next SH, but I honestly thought nothing would come of it what with Kojima being busy with the Metal Gear series.

This could seriously help breathe new life into the Silent Hill franchise, especially with Guillermo on board- his work on Pan's Labyrinth was amazing. Really excited for these two to be working together, and I'm honestly glad that Vatra weren't allowed near another game in the series. HYPED!

I've never played any of the Silent Hill games or Metal Gear (yet), but Guillermo del Toro is my DUDE and I will definitely keep an eye on this. Pan's Labryinth was pretty freaky when I first watched it, so I have faith that these two will be able to pull something pretty good off.

Norman Reedus from the Walking Dead series is providing his voice and likeness for the main character. *excited*

I'll be honest. I wasn't interested in this. Not until I found out that Norman Reedus was going to be involved. Now I am hyped. All the hype.

Del Torro and Kojima. The greatest crossover since the Flintstones met the Jetsons. I am very excited!
Because he is a good video game director and writer?

GOD DAMN IT LIBRE GIVE ME THIS ONE.

    Ahem.

HOLY SHIT I AM SO HAPPY THAT THIS COULD SERIOUSLY BE GREAT.

Because Silent Hill (at least 1-4), as many of you already know, is one of my favorite game series of all time. And to finally see some names with respect (beside Akira Yamaoka, who did great music even with bad games) attached to this title...I CAN'T WAIT GUYS.

Lol, he' s been expressing interest in the series for a while now but didn' t think he was the right person to direct a horror game 'cause he' s chicken-hearted (his words). I guess that would explain why Del Toro joined. On the other hand that makes him the prefect guinea pig. ^^

As long as he doesn' t write anything I' m glad to hear Kojima' s in, the series has been glaringly lacking on the technical side of things for a while now compared to its ancestors. Hell, it' s been lacking period, at that point slapping Kojima' s name on the series was pretty much their only option left to draw the spotlights again.

    Kojima tweeted this on April last year;

The whole Norman Reedus thing held true, so does that mean Gosling will possibly be involved with this as well? Seems a biT Hollywood, and Silent Hill is none of that lol.

I don't even care what actors they get as long as those actors are given good direction and writing, and can execute their parts well. Homecoming, Downpour, and the HD Collection's new casts all failed to capture the eerie, surreal tone of the first 4 games, and instead sounded either dull or too clean, not to mention the writing sucked for the most part.

I'm confident it will already be a lot better than what we've been given recently in the series just because it's going back to its origins and also with Kojima & del Toro working on it. It's just difficult for me to imagine not only Norman Reedus but potentially Ryan Gosling and whoever the hell elses likeness in the middle of Silent Hill.

At this point, the Silent Hill franchise is in a fairly enviable place, creatively: it's still a somewhat relevant series, but the recent entries have been so disappointing that they have virtually nothing to lose. I'm eager to see the results.

Honestly, that's the only way I see this working. Combine Kojima's excellent design sense (DON'T TELL ME HE DOESN'T HAVE IT) with Del Toro's experience in the genre. It makes some sense, it's just really weird.

My one concern is these two 'titans' may not be very cooperative. People at their level are use to control over their projects, partnering up can mean the butting of heads since both are pulling at the reins. I hope that's not the case. I actually remember on Twitter when Hideo was meeting with everyone for the game. If that's the case, I'm calling Midge Ure will have a big role.

Apart from that, I'm actually interested in a horror game for once in my life.

Ordinarily I'd be worried, but Del Toro seems to play well with others. iirc he's collaborated on a few major projects before.

It's more Kojima I'm worried about. He's not left Metal Gear yet because he doesn't trust his team to make it great. I mean, he's been saying 'this'll be my last Metal Gear game' for 4 game now? He even said that a game he wanted to make wasn't trusted by his new staff, because they weren't experienced enough, so it was delayed. He seems like a control freak on his projects, very mother bear protective about it. Can't blame him, just worried he'll be like that for all his games, and it may be even worse with another big shot. But we won't know for a year or two, of course.

Yeah, I kinda feel the same way about Kojima; love him, but damn he likes to do things his own way.

Regardless, I'm glad to see the Silent Hill series making SOME kind of progress back to having quality behind its name.

Also, has anyone else played P.T.? I've been trying to finish it for like an hour and have no clue what to do anymore. A lot of conflicting reports too.

Constant demand is why he hasn't left Metal Gear yet. Heck, he originally didn't want to direct or write MGS4 and was going to let someone else handle it but death threats from the fans forced him to direct it.
