Meh... my sister has ordered a lot of these and has given me a couple, they're ok for decoration but I think it's wasted money.

I don't remmeber Rei's figure being more shapely than Asuka's. What happened?

    It's a hobby
If you don't like the figurines then you probably won't like collecting them.

I like figmas but I just can't handle the upmarketing. I feel like a lot of the ones I like end up going "Looks worth $20 or so, but I could go up to 40ish if needed" *actual price is $200* *closes browser and walks away*

    62 without these ones
Where are you shopping that's selling two hundred dollar figmas?
Also you have to realize the cost that goes into making these things as well as the fact that most of these aren't licensed.

I tend to only get interested in the more artsy ones. I would absolutely love to get my hands on this baby.

You say artsy. I personally think it is a little more overdone and tacky than anything else. I like the more subdued images to begin with, but I also prefer naturalistic poses and attention to consistency, movement, flow and subtle details. That Shiki figma is pretty much exactly everything I want in one.

To me it is the more normal figmas that look underdone. Though I've been told that most need to be seen in real life to really appreciate them. All the same, since figmas are fairly low on the list of things I want I would much rather have at least my first couple be overdone somewhat tacky pieces since that is what my collection will be entirely for several years.

It's a matter of taste really, I guess. Maybe I was being a bit tactless in saying it looked tacky, but I get what you mean now. I don't personally have the money for any of this so I just look at my friends' small collections.

Yeah I can imagine that racking up to around 180
Still, I'm not too sure what my taste is, I usually just get figs of characters I like and my waifu(if she had more then one fig).
I'd probably get that FMA one if I wasn't so sure it was out of stock.
