I wrote this prolouge a bit ago. It starts out pretty fast, however future events balance it out. What do you think?

    l-Prologue-l

‘Dark’ wasn’t the word to describe how dim the setting was. The room seemed blacker then crows feathers and grimmer then any other room without light that Andrew had ever seen. The concept of being able to see in such darkness was enough to set the room apart from others, but to Andrew, the illumination wasn’t important. He glanced at old pictures of people he didn’t know, and probably never would with a drawn out breath. He ran a hand through his messy black hair, finding a seat in the corner of the small isolated room. No doors, no windows, and no passageway in or out. Completely shut out from the all worlds. He liked it this way. Some saw it as a prison while others, like Andrew, thought of it as a haven; a peaceful yet unnerving sanctuary. This was the essence of most nonexistence.

Very few people on Earth were open to the idea of more then one livable world. Sadly, most believers would never find the others. Even if someone managed to search far enough and find them, the likelihood that they would be able to survive within it is very slim.

The particular room Andrew was sitting in was located in The World That Never Would Be. Invisible to the naked eye by day, and deadly by night, this world sat in space between two pentagon shaped towers that kept it orbiting. Without the towers, the ‘World That Never Would Be’ or Twunsive, would be lost and cause devastation to all worlds. Twunsive was basically the knot in the tie between various realms. If these ties were broken and the realms collided, the damage would be catastrophical.

“The core of Xehoraut will implode before the Towers fall…†Andrew murmured to himself absently.

“Don’t be so sure,†a voice replied. The source presented himself in a black and red cloak. Black for the darkness from where he appeared and red for the blood his shamelessly had caused to spill. Andrew was once again reminded of how the mysterious cloak had worked. Whoever wore it caused the color to change to whatever their true heart reflected. Nonchalantly, the man threw his cloak in Andrew’s direction. It changed into its natural pure white shade.

“It took you long enough. It felt like hour., I was getting impatient.†Andrew’s lips formed a small smirk. His brother, Arkimas, let his piercing eyes linger on him for a moment before scoffing.

“Fool. Time isn’t measured in this world.†Arkimas walked over to the wall on his right and moved a pale finger swiftly over the black surface. Arkimas was always so cynical. So much so that sometimes Andrew wondered if humor was even worth it. A window appeared, overlooking a lush green meadow. A few seconds later, the sight grew clearer.

Andrew moved towards it and stared at the image stoically. A blue and pink house on the meadow came into focus. A strange feeling of empathy swept over him and he glanced at Arkimas.

“Do you remember this place?†He asked softly. Arkimas’ expression changed from stern to slightly amused.

“Of course I do, we grew up here.†He motioned towards the wall left of them and the illusion spread further until the entire room was engulfed by it. Seconds before Andrew grew too attached and started recalling passed memories, the scene changed dramatically. A building replaced the delusion.

The structure seemed to be one with the violet sky above them, floating charismatically in-between seas of ebony clouds. Arkimas and Andrew stood on a platform meters away from an empty darkness below them. Arkimas valiantly stepped into the darkness, which was surprisingly solid, and towards the large steel double doors which were the skyscrapers entrance. Arkimas pulled a door open and a blue light poured into the area, momentarily blinding Andrew.

“If I were you,†Arkimas grinned, his fiery amber eyes sparkling, and added with emphasis. “dear brother, I would not count on this door staying open for much longer.â€

“Of course, not with you holding it open.†Andrew retorted, walking through.

Inside of the building wasn’t any less strange then the outside. The dark walls were coated with a sticky green substance that blazed and illuminated the room. The double doors disappeared behind them. Besides the green coat of slime on the wall, this room was exactly like the one in Twunsive. If Andrew hadn’t been there before he would’ve mistaken them for the same.

Arkimas stopped walking and spun to face his brother. A look of annoyance held sincerely to his face.

“Why are you moving so slowly?†He hissed. Andrew noticed that he could see his breath in the cold air and shrugged. He honestly didn’t know. Usually, he’d have been striding along as if he owned the place. Arkimas looked at him hard and then groaned, moving a hand across the slimy wall, knocking exactly five times.

Glass stairs appeared to the left.

“You’ve been hanging out around those imbeciles too long.†He flipped a strand of silver hair from over his eyes and ran up the stairs. Andrew examined his own hair for a second; black side-bangs in the front and short messy hair in the back. He needed a haircut. He stepped up to his brother.

Walking on completely see through stairs had always disturbed Andrew and maybe even more then walking on solid darkness. They were practically invisible. It was too easy to just fall off.

    “What imbeciles?†Andrew asked Arkimas.

“Humans,†The answer was so simple but still complicated. To Andrew there were two different types of humans. Those two were dreamers and skeptics. The sadness of it all was that dreamers had the same chance of success as they did destruction. Eventually, the majority of dreamers and skeptics would go down with Xehoraut.

Xehoraut was the balance between the worlds along with Twunsive. They depended on one another. Without the pentagon towers Twunsive would fall which would cause Xehoraut to fall. There would be a chain reaction and earth would be apart of it.

Arkimas and Andrew were apart of an organization and Arkimas, more then his brother, wanted control over all of the eight worlds. This association would help them do it. He always spoke about how they’d be apart of the greatest transition in history along with the other seven members.

“Just to remind you, we’re humans too.†Andrew murmured. Arkimas shrugged the comment off and stopped at a large silver door with blue trim. The door seemed to float in mid-air. Knowing this world, it probably did.

Calmly, Arkimas knocked four times. At first, Andrew was relieved to see that nothing had happened but then the door opened and slowly, light flooded the stairwell. Arkimas smirked at the disappointed looked on Andrew’s face and disappeared behind the door. Andrew followed reluctantly.

What was behind the door seemed oddly out of place. Broken pieces of plywood lay on the cement flooring and maroon colored wallpaper hung slightly off of the pastel colored wall. Andrew frowned but then quickly regained his emotionless expression. He had remembered going through the door before, but this room hadn’t been what was behind it.

Arkimas groaned loudly and produced two chairs with his hand, plopping down on one of them agitatedly. He then pulled two half gloves over both palms. It was amazing how much Arkimas could do with those hands of his. Andrew couldn’t help but be surprised each time Arkimas preformed something so unrealistic.

“Seems like they aren’t here yet,†Arkimas looked up to his brother who was still standing and rolled his eyes. “We really need to spend more time together little brother.â€

Andrew sat unenthusiastically, knowing that the comment wasn’t directed towards him with compassion. It was because Andrew was so surprised by the things that were so small to his brother. He had always been, even as children. Andrew could be completely fascinated by a beautiful rose while Arkimas would rather trample it, or use it’s thorns as darts.

“Right,†Andrew murmured. “Who are we waiting for anyways?â€

“Why agree to come and not know the cause?†Arkimas stated, knowing that he hadn’t answered Andrew’s question.

“It’s not as if I had a choice.†If he had, he wouldn’t have gone. Arkimas had just showed up at his doorstep, smirking, and before he knew it he was in Twunsive alone.

Arkimas closed his eyes and whistled something inattentively, occasionally opening one eye to see if anyone had showed up. After what seemed to be about a half and hour, Andrew grumbled and slouched lazily in his chair.

“They aren’t coming. You brought me here for nothing.†He said, standing up slowly. “I thought organizations were supposed to be…organized.â€

Arkimas glimpsed up at Andrew slightly surprised.

“How’d you know we were here for them?†He asked. Andrew paced the room with his hands behind his back thoughtfully.

“Well…you transported me to Twunsive, created an illusion, walked through an element, revealed glass stairs, and produced chairs out of no where with your hands inside of an empty room.†His voice was thick with sarcasm. “Call it a hunch.â€

A loud vibration in the room interrupted a cunning response from Arkimas. The room quickly filled with a dark violet gas which was potent with the smell of flowers. Andrew quickly found his brother in the mist and stood close by him. The shaking increased and both brothers were jolted to the ground. Arkimas put on his black half gloves and snapped. Electric blue currents scaled the walls and almost instantly the shaking stopped.

Andrew stood up and sighed with relief. The tremor was replaced with a long high-pitch squealing. He covered his ears and briefly looked over at his brother who had let out a long exasperated sigh. An explosion of multicolored smoke met the middle of the room and a figure appeared within it. The noise suddenly stopped and the room went completely still.

“Well that was quite an entrance,†Arkimas muttered, standing up straight. A deep voice chuckled in the colorful fog as a middle height man with crimson eyes stepped out of it. His black combat boots clicked on the ground.

“The rest are in the garden,†The man’s eyes moved to Andrew who was still hunched over behind Arkimas. Andrew straightened and cleared his throat. The man rolled his vivid eyes.

“He™ll learn,†Arkimas looked to his brother who had directed his attention the debris on the ground. “Sooner or later…†he added. The man gave a short nod and disappeared in a green mist. Arkimas ran a hand through his long hair and exhaled calmly, grabbing Andrew’s arm. The two of them disappeared.

*jaw drops* Wow...for once the grammar and spelling is awesome, especially with the dialogue - no complaints there from me! Although in this part "crows feathers," you forgot the apostrophe, but otherwise...this was great! The only problem was that despite how fast it started, it couldn't really keep my attention...it's good, but it needs...something to keep readers glued to it. But keep it up, I know you can do even better - it's already really awesome! :)
