The first one has far too much contrast - it's quite literally just black and white. It wouldn't be a terrible thing either if it weren't for the fact that it's so sharp as well. The second is nice, but it could use a little bit of work. For better color coordination, try dropping a dark navy blue fill set to exclusion on top of everything, followed by maybe a few photo filters and a color overlay. After that, you need to work a bit on the lighting; brush some white in the upper left and some black in the lower right. Set it to soft light and lower the opacity if necessary. To finish off everything, add a black and white gradient map set to low opacity and, if necessary, move the color overlay to the top.
Nice, I would add another color overlay on top with magenta, blue, and cyan shadows topped with green, red, and yellow highlights. Vice versa might look good too.
