Alright this is a long story.

I was basically walking to my house, after pondering on getting a haircut (After all my damn hair is actually past my knees, and it's too brushed out like girl's hair so I hate it ><). When I saw this cute dog on the street. The problem was she was shaking and was so skinny when I petted her, I could feel her bones through her body which was a bad sign already. So I wasted my dinner food to buy dog food, to feed her. And obviously she was starving cause she almost ate it all.

So of course feeling sorry for her, I took her home, and since my parents practically live a whole floor away from me, they couldn't care less about the dog making a mess, since it'd only be upstairs not downstairs.

I already gave her a full time bath, and took her out for a walk before.

But I really really need help, this is my first time with a dog, she has no collar, so I think either her owner abandoned her, or she's really a full time stray. But she doesn't know how to fend for herself so I'm thinking abandonment.

I have no idea on the breed either.

This is EXACTLY how she looks, this picture's from this list of over 500 dog types. I could actually call her a twin.

But seriously guys, I need help.

Hmmm....A smart thing to do is report a lost dog (IF IT IS) to the police department/station area in your area.

Then, keep the dog for as long as you need. But would your parents mind buying the dog food? (assuming you might not be able to buy it)

Looks like an Australian shepherd. Take her to your local shelter, tell them that you found the dog on the street and that you want to keep it. They'll take it for about a week, just to make sure there's no owner. If no owner shows up, they should get back to you and tell you that you can keep it. After which, they'll get you a license, vaccinations, etc.

Check with the police, and then with your parents. She'll need loads of exercise as I think she's a border collie.

Nice to see a fellow animal rescuer.

*sniff* Xaldin you are so kind ^_^ Here's what you need to go go to google and put dog help. Or well just give her a name walk her in the mornings and after noons. Give her dog food. Give her a bath. Get her a collar and put posters of the dog in the streets for the owner to find her. If that owner doesn't come well keep her as a pet and as a friend.

    Here's a link that might help http://www.bordercollie.org/core.html

I had a border collie cross when I was younger. They are very intelligent, and get bored easily. Mine chewed up things in the kitchen when she was bored.

Exactly. It's like finding a wallet on the street, except it poops in your yard and chews everything.

Well...., I have 10 pet dogs so I might be able to help.....

If you keep the dog (no one claims it), take it to a vet.
keep feeding it, keep it hydrated, and take it out when it has to go out.....
Oh, and don't forget to give it a lot of attention.

    I agree with Deathspank.

Deathspank's idea is a good idea.

I have small terrior, that my aunt's friend found, and brought it to us. My aunt's friend found Maggie in Seattle roaming the streets. Well, she wasn't abandoned, but she's an escape artist. So she escaped from her original owner in Seattle, then got picked up my the animal shelter. The animal shelter notified the original owner and told her that she could come and pick up her dog. So then the original owner shows up to find out that Maggie escaped from the shelter. I don't know what day, but then my aunt's friend found her in the streets.

Oh, and the only reason my mom knew about this is because she escapes with us too.

She has escaped like a total of 14 or 15 times. She has escape a bunch of times, until one time......This happened earlier this year.......Until one time she escape and we couldn't find her where we usually always find her. So anyway, my mom had to take some hours off of work to help me find her. So her boss suggested the animal shelter, then a little later, my mom calls her sister(My Aunt). And she tells her what happened, and my aunt says the same thing, call the animal shelter.

So she calls the animal shelter. My mom asks, and tells her what she looks like and stuff. The person at the shelter says, there's a dog like that. However my mom said: "It might not be her." So we go to the animal shelter, and we go inside. And the lady says something. Then she says check stall number (I forgot). Anyway, we check it, and Maggie's there. So my mom paid $15.00 to get her out. And from then on, if she escapes and people report it, we would get I think a $150 dollars ticket.

So after that, she was back at home.

Well, then one day she escaped.

Then one time my friend was over, and she escaped.

And then again with my friend last weekend: March 17, 2007. She escaped, but this escape I think my friend let her escape on purpose.

So after the animal shelter, she's escaped 3 times, but we found her all 3 times.

So anyway: I agree with Deathspank.
