hey guys, I need a link to a site that sells capture cards for a reasonable price that not close to or around 100$ or more but that's like in the price range of the 40s or 50s. anyone know of any sites like that?

I'd recommend just checking out ebay or possible amazon, I just did a search, and it seems at least eBay has a couple of cheap ones that are buy now.

Or, http://www.dealextreme.com/ - they have a lot of cheap electronic stuff

I don't know about the price, but I'm fairly sure that Best Buy sells them. I'm sure you can find a decent one there.

The cheapest I've seen at Best Buy is the Dazzle DVC, which is one of the most popular ones. I've got one myself (but the more expensive one, but there's not -too- much of a difference between the two) and I quite like it. It's listed as $50: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Pinnacl...18156772061&skuId=9714459&st=dazzle&cp=1&lp=2
You can get one off of eBay for around $40, but I'm always wary of buying electronics off of there.

Just don't buy those little EasyCaps that are $12, they're terrible and a waste of time and money.

As long as you get an EzCap DC60+ you can get video that's just fine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rUG-QYt27I (Heck, it's actually very good if you get an S-video cable for it.)

But yeah, the ones that are still called "EasyCap" I believe are bad copies, so try to stay away from those.

That one does look pretty good, yeah. =] I think I might have gotten one of the bad copies you're talking about.

hey guys if I were to use this capture card then my question is...is the black plug (not the yellow, white, and red plugs just the black plug) that's attached to the capture card an important plug at all? if so then what does it plug into and do I need a dazzle for that specific plug?

edit: sorry for the double post, if someone could please merge.:\

There are four plugs. The red and white are used for audio, the yellow used for video. They're composite inputs, and if you so chose, you can fully record from them with no problems (at least not ones caused by the connection). The black plug is for S-video, which, as the name suggests, transmits video. It's generally higher quality than the composite, but not many people have S-video cables, so that's something you're going to have to factor in buying.

If you do buy an S-video cable, you should make sure to buy one that's higher quality (and therefore more expensive). I learned this the hard way. A low-quality S-video cable with will leave a checkerboard-like pattern over your video, which kind of sucks. Though I'd still say that even a bad S-video cable like that looks a lot better than crappy composite video.

hmmm would deal extreme have any high quality s-video cables for a good price because I would be paying for it out of my parents paycheck since I don't get payed until the end of the month which sucks, but that's the way the place I work at works? And I pretty positive my parents don't want to spend alot of money on something like that.
