I am practising different techniques of lineart before colouring to see how they turn out. I used a pencil to draw the outline, then scanned it, threshold-ed it a bit and cleaned up the lines, then coloured each section. I am not great at drawing people in profile so any comments at all would be most useful. Please tell me what you think!
This is a wonderful picture, a marvelous first upload to DA. I really like the colors used, their not too bright, not too dark. Gives it a cheery look and almost a warm feeling with the light colors. Also, the composition seems to work very well, I like how narrow it is width wise, and a little higher up length wise. The things I see that could use some work on would be: The eye and the eyebrow needs to be back a bit more, a person's eye is never right up to the ridge of their nose. Maybe flesh out the eyebrow, I can't see her blonde eyebrows, its more of a line. Her chin could probably have a little more curves and have a more straight angle at the bottom where the neck meets. But this was a good turn out, I did enjoy it, and I do hope to see more of your work down along the road. Great Job!
Thank you :) Some really useful advice there, I'll be sure to take it into account. Yeah I see what you mean about the eye being too close to the nose ridge, that's something I'll have to watch out for. And yeah I decided to use those lighter colours because I thought to have them too bold wouldn't suit Namine, as she's sort of insubstantial and reserved :) But yes thank you again I'll be sure to keep drawing!
