Implemented "Name log"

I've seen a lot of people getting confused with name changes, so why not create a "Name log"? A place where you can see the user's previous name? It would be quite helpful.

I have no idea if vB has it, but if it does it would be great to have it.

 

If this is possible, yes, I would like it. However, in the meantime, the best alternative is to look through the Premium Name Change thread.

 

Only problem with that temporary solution is that none Premmies cannot see which of their Premmie friends have changed..
I mean, there are usually some subtle hints that can give it away, but yeah. None prems can't do much about it for now.


I like the idea of a name log if it's possible.
It would definitely be useful to some people that is for sure. I just also find it interesting to see what names people have used before. XD (Like I've heard Arch had some super noobish names ages ago. XD)

 

I never considered this as major problem but it is a good thought.

 

How would the normal members accomplish this?

Anyway, it could be useful. Also, if it's added, there should be an option to hide it.
Some people might not like the idea, and why should they have to use it if they don't want it?

It could probably be under their profile name in a small text, and the user could toggle between having it being there or not.

 

As for the whole normal member can't view thing, I would prefer that Prems keep their thread in the Prem Zone (EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN'T EXIST LOLOL) but we could always merge it with the Name Change thread in Forum Assistance and just be careful that a Normie doesn't sneak in a name change.

 

I can view the change history in the ACP, so it might be possible with vB, but you know... you could always ask the person. o:

I think the point is that they're not sure who is talking to them so much as they don't know they want to talk to.
If I suddenly changed my name to Champloo without warning, new theme and everything, and Bushy wanted to talk to me, he'd have to go through some trouble to find me even if I've been posting a lot.

 

It's happened.
It's only thanks to the fact I can check his RP posts and know the characters are his and I therefore then know that the new name must be him.

With other people... this doesn't always work. :/

 

I can't find anything that is just for this, but this one includes it as a secondary feature. I know the the primary purpose of the mod was shot down a while ago (for good reason) but it may be possible to disable that and just use the username history. I'm not sure.

 

Just gave this a try (some may have noticed), and it can display username history on profiles. There's just a few things I want to play with, disabled for now.

 

So it can be implemented.
Is it safe to assume that this is going to be approved?

 

Seems likely, but as always staff may choose not to.

 

I like this idea! It'd sure help me, that's for sure! I think, if it's done, it should be in its own seperate tab on the user's profile page though. Makes it easier to find.

 

The full functionality of the mod won't, as it is technically made to allow users to change their usernames on their own; I believe it has been brought up in the past, but we will continue doing those manually. The mod has a secondary feature that adds a tab to profile pages with Username History, which is what we're looking for.

That is how the mod is designed. =]

Pretty sure I got everything I noticed last night, post here if you guys have any problems, but it's otherwise enabled. =]

 

This is really cool.
For some reason, though, mine is empty. I thought it was because of how many usernames I had gotten and I broke it or something but Reptar (lol) has all of her's.
I've been going around to other people's but it seems it's working fine. Mine are just...not there. >: ​
