i think Myspace website is just a police trap. i think that's why they have celebrities endorse it and have movies endorse it as well. i saw a bunch of stories on the news about the police catching ppl doing stuff on myspace. for example: there was some girl who said that she hated President Bush and that he deserved to die. and then the secret service arrested her and interrogated her even tho she was only in 7th grade. another example is: ALOT of ppl are getting sued becuz they are putting music they shouldn't have on Myspace. and one more: someone mentioned having a good time with their friends doing graffitti and the police arrested them. so u see why i think Myspace is just a police trap?

Actually, Myspace was originally a site to chat with your friends, family, etc. But then it was being abused by other people to pretend to be somebody else and rape and molest(sp?) people who are stupid enough to give away their address, so now Tom (owner of Myspace) and others are trying to stop these kinds of people for good. But I suppose it might've changed into a police trap over the years, I geuss.

I'm sorry but who would be stupid enough to give a complete stranger there address, ok sure they pretend to be someone else but still, it's called common sense not to.

Hey, there are really stupid people in the world. xD

BTW, they could also ask somebody if they want to meet somewhere or something like that.

Yeah that's true... there are some really daft people out there.

I did an eassy about this once, people pretending to be someone else & wanting to meet young kids. It wasn't very nice what happened to some of these young kids.

See it's not that they just automacticly ask "hey, what's you address?" no, they try to talk to you and if your dumb enough to talk to someone you dont know then he will try to talk to you and little after little the child will start to trust them more and when she/he trusts him enough they tell him/her their address becuase they think they're their friend which is how the internet predators get you. So everyone should be careful I mean some people really do like just talking to people they dont know. Just you guys have to be careful and if your ever in doubt just dont tell him/her anything. Block/ delete them or whatever.

Edit: Oooo I've seen that show before, I forgot the name though. And to not get off the subject I think that is quite alright that the police are taking some action. It really is a good idea though.

Of course they don't ask for their address straight out like that. They have to gain their trust. But you know they could ask, they could say something like "I want to write you personally but i would need your address" or something like that. They can be quite tricky.

True they can and it really is hard to not say no. Although once you see them asking a much too personal question then you shouldn't answer it. Whether you believe he is a predator or not. Your right it is very tricky.

Edit: Would this be better in the Intelligent Disscusion section?

Welllllllll they probably do use myspace but they also watch internet chatrooms and forums too! There was a case not long ago where an international child pornogrphy ring was closed down after police watched them in the chatroms, so yeah Geogre Orwell eat your heart out Big Brother is watching!

I've had a guy ask to meet me & yes it is hard to say no if you enjoy talking to them. I just say something daft & change the subject.

good thing i dont go to myspace. read the sig. it tells all. and anyway, how did that girl get arrested? not by bush's orders i bet. i doubt he could even have read the post. if she wanted to be arrested under his orders, she should've posted a picture.

it's kinda silly that they arrested her because she doesn't like him. What happened to free speech?

actually, wat happened to me is that i found out an online buddy of mine went to the same school as me!!! that was freaky!! i don't remember how it came up but we both mentioned a website that we both go to and were like my name there is"alskdhf" and he was like "are u serious?!" ur "alskdfh?!". and i proved it by logging in in front of him. and we're good friends. but that prolly different than wat ppl think about metting ppl online. and Intelligent Discussion....i thot about putting it there but i wasn't sure if it belonged there, i'm fine either way.

well....she also said she wasnted to kill him..... and the secret service arrested her at her school. she WAS released cuz they realized she was no threat but she told reporters that they shoved her alot and were needlessly rude
yea, that's why they thot she was a threat

and i never knew about that they catch online predators with that site, NOW I'M convinced, MYSPACE IS NOTHING MORE THAN A POLICE TRAP WHICH IS WHY CELEBRITIES ENDORSE IT!!!!!!!

Myspace isn't a police trap, IMO.

    People are just idiots.
