The dragon's wingbeats thundered under him, reminding him of the ghastly task he had to carry out. He furrowed his eyebrows in deep concentration, and he felt the dragon speed up too.

The darkness was almost overwhelming as he urged his dragon on.

"Calm down!!" she cried in his mind. "You'll tire me out!!"

"Sorry, Kimiko," he muttered under his breath. He took a glance at his allies, the Gryphons and their riders, their wingbeats strong and their faces hard set on their goal.

"Stay strong!!" bellowed their leader, Quadir, hot-headed and angry as usual. His Gryphon screeched a cry and twisted epicly in mid-air. She was a nimble beast, no doubt about it.

His dragon's speech brought him back from his daydream.

"The Black Wing," she growled. "We're here."

Well...this is very short, but it has potential. Since you're writing from 3rd person, it's easier to be ample and describe things in style, so don't hold back on that. If you were to continue, you should try to make it somewhat longer.

Kimiko soared higher, deep into the darkening sky. The night was drawing in fast, and soon the full moon would be at its peak, and Kimiko at her strongest.

The Black Wing's fortress stood tall and proud above the shivering winds, absorbing the surrounding darkness to feed its many warriors. Gryphons and Riders, Dragons and even a Moon Dragon, just like Kimiko, all consumed by the darkness and turned into puppets of war for Kiyuu, the Master of Darkness, as he liked to call himself.

He realised his mind was slipping and realised he had to get a firm grip on it. 'Concentrate!!!' He scloded himself. If he lost his mind now the people of Zenshimiin would never be safe. He had to protect hhis kingdom!

The Moon Dragon and her Rider emerged from the choking blanket of thick smoky clouds to behold a mighty wonder.

"Makkura," growled Kimiko, turning her head to her Rider. "Yuushi? Are you OK?"

Yuushi nodded. He turned to the Gryphon Warriors. "Remember our plot: You attack Makkura at the base of the fortress, to draw out the Majutsu, and we will attack from the top when Kajax comes on his Moon Dragon, and finish him off to save Zenshimiin." The Gryphon Warriors nodded tersely and rallied, screeching proudly their battle cry as the dived in for the attack.

Instantly they were met by a stream of Dark Warriors. Chaos ensued. Feathers of bright gold and ebony black exploded in the sky like fireworks. Screams of victory and screams of pain reached Yuushi's ears, and he cringed. The sound disgusted him, and revulsion and fear of his task rose in the pit of his stomach.

"Kimiko," he urged. She nodded and soared upwards. Her scaly skin started to glow ominously in the pale moonlight. He glanced at the sky and saw it- the full moon. Kimiko was at her strongest. They had to hurry.

She streaked through the starlit sky dodging through the stifling air as it began to rain heavily on Yuushi's face. He furrowed his brows as he spotted Kajax on his Dark Moon Dragon riding out to meet him.

Kimiko flattened herself against the harsh winter and zoomed forward, an explosion of movement he almost found overwhelming. The adrenalin throbbed in his veins, as they began the steep climb.
