    ...turned out like this :stupid::

I call him Ricky. He's not from any game or anime...he's just...Ricky.
I didn't intentionally try to make him look emo, it's just that I don't know how to draw anime eyes. Give me some suggestions on how I can improve it, but remember that this is my first time even attempting to draw in this style, so don't tell me to do something that would be way beyond my level. Also, you could give me some step-by-step instructions on how to draw eyes, or at least give a good site with a tutorial. Thanks!

The hands, arms, and legs need work, as do the shoes.

    Eh.
    Well..

1.The shirt makes his neck look very short.
2.Work with the arms and hands, the fingers look way too small.
3.The legs looks funny to me.

But what i do like is the shading.

Ah those shoes are sexi. Same with the sword =]

okay, yeah, this drawing can do with some re-touching, but its really good if its your first attempt:

You can make it a chibi kind of easily.

1)Darken the eyes a bit, because I had to look really hard to find it lol.
    2) Straighten the edges, they are a bit jagged, i realized that you did a zigzag routine. It looks okay, but sometimes it looks better straight =] Yesh, I am the Queen of Plain.
    3) Take the cuffes out. Just make it a normal tee ^^, without the zipper as well.
    4) Rounden the hair abit.
    5) It looks weird the fact that one hand is front view and th other is back view. If you get what I mean...
    6) And, the eyes, you can use this tutorial:
if you really want to change it...

or just go to google.ca and search Anime Eyes Tutorial

The hands, arms, legs, and feet need work on positioning and direction. The arms are too skinny and the hands are small and positioned incorrectly. The legs are too straight and don't look real. Finally, your feet can not be like that. They need to be facing straight, not sideways. Keep working on it though.

Thanks! That's the constructive criticism I was looking for!

Anyways, I'm thinking about revising him tomorrow. The only problem is, I'm not very good at doing things the second time around. But oh well, I'll give it a shot. The eyes weren't actually meant to be visible in this drawing, and I don't know if I'll include them by the time he's revised. But thanks, I'll use that tutorial in the future.

Okay, well it need some work but good for the first try.

    Some constructive criticism:

Well the first think I noticed what the feet where pointing different directions, from what I know not many people stand like that ^_^; I also know it's hard to draw feet going straight forward, but since his face is turned left you could always turn his feet slightly the same direction but still facing forward.

Secondly, I would have to say the hands are a bit on the small side, try making them a bit bigger to make it a it more realistic, look at you own hands when drawing, it makes it so much easyer.

Thirdly, this has to do with the hands again, I know the way you hold a sword and the way you hold heaphones is quite different but try to have the hands facing the same way. So either it shows both the backs of the hands or both having the palms showing.

Fourthly, the right arm. When you look at it the right one is a bit weird, it goes straight down even though the sleave(sp?) angled is out a bit. to fix this, try having the seave and the are matching in the way they are angled.

Five, both arms this time. When you look at you own are you can see it's basicaly two parts, you don't have to draw anyone really buff or anything but try to make it less of a straight line and have the lower part of the arm slightly angle a bit to show the two parts.

Six, the legs. Like the arms, they look a bit weird perfectly straight and spaced out like that. Try having them closer together and maybe bending the knees abit.

Seven, the headphones. Personaly, I love big headphones like that and think they look cool, but the cord it a little off, normaly it fould fall in a straight line rather than wave back and forth a bit.

Eight, shading. Although it is good looking at it, he has no shadow under is feet nor do the headphones have any. Also looking at it there is shading on both sides of him, try picking where the light is coming from before you start shading then sticking to that. I know there are the exceptions of multiple light sourses and also things like arms casting shadows or wrinkles in clothing but try to keep most of the shading to one side.

Nine, eyes. Alright, you don't know how to draw them as you said right? Hmm...how to draw eyes...umm...can't help you there, I can draw them but to explain how to, plus the little different changes acording to age and gender makes it kinda confusing...

Ten, the cuff of the shirt. It's a little bit odd, although how I can't really say...Although I can say it makes the neck look small and is a it oversized.

Okay sorry for any spelling errors and any thight that's a little confusing. Also sorry for this being so long and pointing out so much stuff >_<

I'd give more crit but most of what has already been said pretty much covers it all.
Still I guess I'll just add my words of encouragement and remind you that practice makes perfect. That's a fact.

Even if re-doing an image may never end up the same exactly, it's still good to re-touch & remake your work from time to time. When that happens you can actually start to see your growth and it's a moral booster since you can see how much you've improved from the innitial drawing. :)

Anyhoo, I'd practice drawing real people before getting into anime. You'll learn the proper structure of a human first and then you can play with manga style twisted and stretched anatomy. (I've actaully had a MUCH harder time playing with Kingdom Hearts anatomy then normal human anatomy. If you don't know the basics, progressing in styles becomes VERY hard.)
