My Best Friends Dad Charged For Child Pornography

He's my best friends Dad, I knew him for 5 years I've slept at his house. This is sick and wrong he sang at a damn church every Sunday. I feel betrayed.

 

It's no different to a woman staying over at the house of a man who looks at normal porn. Obviously the kids weren't consenting, but that much doesn't really matter in terms of your relationship with him, and he hasn't actually abused any kiddies.

 

The question remains, "Who produced the child pornography in the first place?"

There goes a man who will never be arrested because everybody goes for the consumer and nobody even thinks about the producer.

 

Try to be mature, guys, I mean damn.

Anyways like P said, he didn't abuse any kids (as far as we know). Would have been a hell of a lot worse if he did. What kind of child pornography? There was a man arrested for possession of child pornography in the form of a large collection of manga. If this guy had actually abused anybody, I'd be more inclined to say "lock him up," but if all he has is a collection of kiddie porn, I'm leaning more towards getting some mental doctors looking at him. I know there are psychologists and the such looking into sex offenders and the way their mind works.
Worse case scenario with this guy, he was caught before he went from visual to physical. I think he deserves some leniency and should be looked at.

This irritates me as well. But usually, they do look into where the kiddie porn came from. It's kind of like the manga guy though. If he could legally buy it, why did he get arrested for owning it?

 

It's not your falt don't feel betrayed he never harmed you did he? This obviousely ment he had respect for you so you can lay confortably on that note if nothing else...

 

Dude, that's freaking disturbing. Did he just have child porn or was he acting on these impulses with children? I don't agree with child pornography, but if he wasn't acting on it, he'll have a much less serious charge. But he is now an outcast of society. He's going to bear this burden all his life now that it's gone public.

 

I can understand how it'd be disturbing, if I think about as if I was in the situation I would feel concerned for my friend mostly. I hope oyur friend is doing ok, or at least recovering from the concept.

Still... i've been looking into paedophilliacs and the symptons and causes, yet the data is mostly theory and little conclusive evidence. The line between watching porn and acting out a fantasy is quite different. Those who watch rape porns, for example, may only fantasise about the act yet have the sense and reason not to act on it. These are the least severe cases, and does not mean that this type of person is unable to function o has a mental illness, if that were true, anyone with the slightest fanatasy of revenge should be considered the same.

The people that we should most be concerned of are the ones who act and even film the act. These people truly have a diminished logic or distorted reality around them. Those who rape people, or sleep with underage children are people unable to grasp the concept of modern society.

And btw, if a criminal investigation into a paedophile ring begins, those who only watch the porn are the least concern for authorities, instead the distibutors of the porn, those woh film it, those who 'act' in it and the parents/carers who have allowed this to happen.
