So I saw that there was a thread on favourite instruments, and although I haven't seen if there's a worst thread for instruments... I have decided that until I can find one, you guys can discuss as normal over here on what instrument you guys dislike.
I hate steel guitars, for some reason they just sound...I don't even know the word, I'm just not a fan at all. Recorders are also pretty bad. Low quality synths suck, synthesizers are my favorite instruments, but the ones on cheap yamahas and such just drive me crazy. Certain drums machines, like the short punchy ones used in 70s funk and soul, they must have sounded like a good idea at first, but the sound is aggravating. FM Electric Pianos I could do without. Slap bass. Oboes. I swear, I could go on forever, it's really hard to choose one.
Hey, I totally used to play the recorder. >:B Fayt is correct, it is usually just down to the person playing it. Even the most notorious instrument can be played well by somebody with experience. My personal hate is bad playing of the clarinet. It really does sound like somebody strangling a cat. :v
Me too, except mine didn't sound like a strangled cat, it was more like a rubber duck getting squashed by a steam roller. blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. I'm not sure if you could call this an instrument, but if you snip a straw so it has a pointed end and blow into it, it sounds like a sick kazoo. My fifth graders saw something called Bash the Trash at school, and when we got back to class the first thing they asked for was straws because the people told them they can make music with them. They didn't make music.
Vilons are the worst >< the tuba who ever played it horrible makes me kinda laugh the pipes that scottish people uses it defintly the worsets ><''
I actually love violins, I think they're pretty. And they actually had bagpipe players at my college graduation yesterday leading the precession in and out of the tent. They were cool.
NO. NO. The only reason recorders are percieved as 'bad' is because instead of being respected as an awesome piece of musical history along with all other baroque instruments like the Viola da Gamba and Harpsichord, they were handed off to kindergarteners in music class. I play alto recorder and I can tell you, they're beautiful instruments if you put them in the hands of anyone older than six who truly loves music. Most people's exposure to recorders are through poor children being force-fed music theory. Ughhh. /rant I respect all musical instruments for what they are. You have to understand that there's no truly worthless instrument; they all can be used somehow. As a violinist myself I can say that I actually prefer the deep, rich tones of the cello to the violin but I can't deny that violins are an essential part of the orchestra. ...Just my opinon though. Sorry for venting on you The Fuk?, I am just so sad the recorder is so... Neglected D8. IT'S NOT JUST YOU I SWEAR.
An Oboe played badly can sound like a Duck. that's kinda annoying. Also, I think that trombones can sound terrible sometimes, but that's more down to the music. There's no good music for trombone players, it's all Modern Classical music and terrible. I agree with Fayt though, it's more down to the Player then the instrument. And FYI, ZRW, they're called bagpipes and they actually originated in Italy, made from the skin of a plucked chicken. Not all scottish people like or play them >.<.
I love it but I'd have to say the Piccolo. It's so hard for me to play and the sounds never come out right.
