School officially started today, and I would have loved to do some of the work, but I can't because none of my classes have given me any useful information to go on.

One of them says there's a pre-quiz on the syllabus, but there's no quiz up.

2 more say I need Microsoft Office, one for Excel, and the other saying Office 2013, both of which I can't use. Why people won't allow OpenOffice, I don't know.

The other class I have to go in on Saturday, and I have no information regarding it whatsoever.

Oh yeah, have I mentioned that none of my books are in and most of them aren't due till either Friday or, god-forbid, later?

Wonderful week I'm having so far, and it's only just started. And before someone says just pay the fee for Office 365, I don't really make enough money to pay for that every month without it affecting my savings for other things, like Gas, Car payments, phone payments, and etc. So yeah, I'm kinda on pins and needles full of irritation about not being able to do anything.

Are you sure they care what you use and weren't just defaulting to Microsoft Office? As long as you turn things in in the right format it really shouldn't matter, I would think :V Ask your prof.

I know that a lot of colleges offer Microsoft Office for free through the email system. I know that's how I was able to get it when I lived in LA and now that I'm back in New Mexico. Maybe try poking around with that?

I'm asking right now, because it would be so much easier for me to use OpenOffice, the problem is that my ITEC 1301 also needs use of MS Access, and I don't know of any OpenOffice app that runs like that. Other than that, I could easily use Calc and Writer in the place of Word and Excel, but I'll have to see.

My college can give me Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and OneNote for free, but I also need one program for one of my classes that doesn't come with the free version, so yeah, it doesn't matter much. The only good news is I can do $7 a month for only 3 months or so and I should be fine, but I would like to save that money if possible.

Base is the OpenOffice version of Access, although I don't know how similar the feature sets are. Though as I understand databases it all comes down to SQL and they certainly both have that.

Well, then maybe I'll be lucky enough to use just OpenOffice. It's free and it works just as well. Plus, ever since Office got those tabs for all the tools and stuff, I could never use it that well. I asked if I could use OpenOffice in the ITEC class, but I still need to do so in my TMTH class. Though since I haven't even heard back from my instructor about the dates for online sessions, I'm not expecting much quickly
