More interactivity in cutscenes sounds interesting in my opinion. Hopping from dragon to dragon also sounds fun too.

Eh. 1000 Dragons? At once? At FFXIII graphical levels? Pretty sure that's impossible.

But anyway, it sounds like he's planning on adding QTE's. But then again, I've never played Uncharted so I don't know what they did with the cutscenes.

It says future Final Fantasy games, meaning above FFXIII's level as they will advance further through each instalment like always (probably starting with 15 since everything else at the same level right now as far as we know).
Besides, 1000 dragons in a game isn't hard, copy paste ctrl + d one (probably a lesser polygon count than an actual in battle dragon) a thousand times in whatever engine you have and presto, 1000 dragons.

Eh... I dunno. This can go one of two ways: It can be revolutionary, or it can be what Western gamers hate about Western games. There's a reason Japanese games sell in America; it's because there's a niche here that doesn't mind a game that, to strawman it a little, plays itself. And it's more than that, in fact, because Final Fantasy is known for exceptional gameplay elements as well. It's a story that could unfold without you if it so chose, but that keeps you involved by making you work for the next chapter, and it gives you a gameplay element which you can make your own; that's how I've always seen it, and there's a certain charm to that. It creates a culture with two major divisions: the ones who focus on the story and see it as the work of art that it is, and the ones who compete feverishly to be masters of the gaming side. The fact that these overlap is what makes it unique; Final Fantasy has always done well to appeal to both artsy and hardcore gamers, sometimes simultaneously, where many games can only manage one of those, maybe one and a half at best. The Final Fantasy series has a surprisingly deep under-culture that I feel a lot of people miss when they look at the games (and even more so when they look at the fans), and I hope Square Enix doesn't lose that uniqueness in trying to emulate the Western style.

Either way, if they go this route, they better put their backs into it. I don't want no damn quick-time buttons, I wanna move around and kill stuff.
