This may be an old topic, but it just pisses me off to no end how the government makes the Military look so glorious and even FUN. While they show the great moments of the Military in those terrible commercials, they leave out the hours of waiting in fear, the days without food, and all the other horrible things about Military service.

I am grateful for the men and women serving overseas, but the government is tricking young people to join the Military not knowing what it REALLY is like.

i agree. in social studies this year we watched a movie of troops being ambushed. thats not what they show you in the commercials. im grateful for the troops over there, but tricking them into service isnt right.

Exactly. The Marines even came to my High School. You should've seen the pamphlets! A guy even SIGNED UP!

G.I. Joe was only awesome because it wasn't real. While the military does offer a number of interesting things to those that join it, most of their promotions are candy coated with glorified, patriotic bullshiet. People need to stop thinking less about shiny things and more about whether or not they're going to have both of their legs come holiday.

I'm just glad they don't have conscription, or I would be openly protesting and possibly taking more extreme action.

There was a poster outside our school for the Territorial Army and I thought it was disgusting. I mean, people go to school to get an education, not throw their lives away for whatever government happens to be in power at the time. I personally would never join the army under any circumstance.
