Wow...it hasn't even been two years since the release of Windows 7 and they're already developing Windows 8? Kinda rushing it, don't you think? Well that's my two cents.

Have any new features for the OS been announced yet?

Oh wow, this looks really good. I'm still using Windows XP, I wanted an upgrade to 7 but now I think I'll just wait. At the moment it doesn't look that different to Windows 7 but I'll be looking out for updates on it's new features. Thanks for this.

General Response. Ok, so they finished Windows 7 and now they have the update development team on it. What do you think they're going to do next? sit around and watch windows 7? No, They start Developing Windows 8 immediately. Development doesn't mean it's coming out any time soon though, so just because you're on windows 7 now it's not like this is going to be out the door tomorrow. It'll be 2012 or 2013. When you look at OSX's update cycle, this is not surprising. it's a successful business strategy, and Microsoft is a Business.

why you wouldn't want to upgrade is beyond me, because vista is terrible.

Yeah, everyone's right, Vista sucks bawls. I'm probably gonna wait this Windows 8 out, see what more it has to offer than 7.

Well, in all fairness, Windows 7 is basically just a gigantic service pack for Windows Vista. It is hundreds times better though, everyone that can upgrade should imo.

But I'm not surprised to hear that they're working on Windows 8 right now. Microsoft might be trying to be more Apple-esque, who release new operating systems/updates to operating systems in a much faster cycle. Plus with the way the market is changing for the new emphasis on tablets, Windows 7 might not be cutting it.

We shouldn't expect it until at least 2012, giving Windows 7 a what, three year run? That's pretty good, imo.

I still use Windows XP ... XP. I've been meaning to upgrade to Windows 7 for a while because I've been told it's a lot like XP in the way it's laid out ... which is the thing I like about it. I don't think I'll wait for 8 to come out though, for the simple reason that Windows are quite good at keeping the OS the have going updated, IO mean look at XP, it's only just being phased out now, and it's been out for quite a while.

... besideds, I need 7 for my new hard-drive I'll be getting due to an epic computer fail which we can't fix and is in fact nothing to do with the hard drive from what I can see.

I don't know if anybody's noticed it yet, but if you take a close look at the bottom of the screen in the video, it says "Windows 7 Enterprise". Not Windows 8.

    Just sayin'.

Even though Windows 8 may be on its way, I will use my Windows 7 laptop as long as I can. While I like the idea of this, I think they are rushing it way too much. Not everyone has the money to go buy the new OS the second it hits stores.
I most certainly don't have x amount of money for it, and neither do my parents.

I don't really see the big deal with it. For Microsoft, their UI is always rather lacklustre in functionality, I find, and there haven't been any major graphical overhauls. I can't tell any performance issues from a video, so I'll stick to my XP.

Interesting that there haven't been any full leaks of the OS yet.

You mean leaks from the full OS? It's not even ready yet. What has been made so far has been leaked.

I'm still used to Windows 7. I can't afford a computer much less an OS!

A new operating system is significantly less than a new computer. If you buy an OEM of Windows 7 Home Premium it'll run you about $100, depending on where you get it, whereas computers usually start around $400.

But, if you consider that you may have to upgrade your computer to run the new OS, the cost of course increases.

Hey guys, I was looking around and I seem to have found that the Windows 8 developer preview is now available to download.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/
In addition to the OS, there's also a free devkit for their Metro UI apps. Sorry about bumping, but it seems like this is the time to try it out the OS before it's release to the public. Any thoughts on this? I'm downloading it now.

It's been available for a while now, I believe? I've seen from screens, I remember Task Manager was gorgeous. Thinking about wiping my Ubuntu partition and dual-booting Windows 8. Tell me what you think of it. =]
