Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 Microphone

So I bought a the webcam listed up above, and I was planning on using the microphone. However, when I try to speak into it its merely a whisper when I have the webcam in my mouth like a radio speaker. So I went looking in the help folder in my webcam and found this.-

So i went to my menu on my webcam and this is all it had.-

So somethings wrong, anyone know whats wrong?
