Kingdom Hearts II Marluxia, lord of Castle Oblivion

Has it ever been explained as why Xemnas chose him to be the Lord of Castle Oblivion? I read somewhere that Xemnas was very suspicious about Marluxia. If so why make him Lord of Castle Oblivion and get half of his trusted members to go on a suicide mission? I don't understand why he didn't just get 1 of his 5 apprentices who was with him at the time when they were still whole. Xigbar, Xaldin, Vexen, Lexaeus or Zexion.

This question has been bothering me a lot so I want to know. Why did Xemnas choose Marluxia?

 

I read somewhere that it was Xemnas way to test Marluxia or something like that.

 

Because if Xemnas had not placed Marluxia in that position, Marluxia would not have had the power that he did over members of the castle, and he may not have attempted to overthrow the Organization. Xemnas placed him as leader to prove his traitorous nature.

Besides, almost every single death in Castle Oblivion, can, in some way, be blamed on Axel. Larxene fell to Sora after Axel convinced Namine to betray them. Vexen was killed directly by Axel. Yes, it was under Marluxia's orders, but Axel was the one who actually killed him. Marluxia's death would not have occured, again, if Axel had not betrayed him and Larxene. Namine would not have betrayed them, Sora would have become Marluxia's pawn, and Larxene would not have died. Meanwhile, Zexion's death resulted because Axel betayed both him and the above-ground members. Zexion had decided to destroy Riku because he was no longer of use. This was because Marluxia had already been killed, by way of Sora. Riku would have fallen to Zexion, had Namine not coached him in disguise as Kairi. However, if Axel had never betrayed Marluxia, Namine would not have been able to help Riku in the first place. Finally, Axel led Repliku to kill Zexion, telling him it would make him whole.

So in all honesty, everything was pretty much Axel's fault. xD

Maybe because he succeded on most missions he did.
Or maybe because he(Xemnas) heard something about him(Marly) trying to betray the org,so he made him leader of CO and gave a oportunity to see if he or others would try to betray it or not,so if they did,he would need to finish them off,he sent Axel as a double agent if that was the case,and Axel did eliminate all of the members who where agaisnt the org,Vexen tough,wasn't agaisnt the org,but Axel needed to kill him to win Marly's trust.

 

If Marluxia was placed in Castle Oblivion, it seemed like a stupid move, because then Xemnas couldn't keep an eye on him...but if Xemnas already figured Marluxia had this plan, then he must've had a little faith in Sora's ability to fight and get rid of the rebels.....of course...Axel was a double agent, so Xemnas probly wanted to make sure the job got done, providing Sora failed.

 

I think Xemnas put Marluxia there because he knew Sora would defeat him.

 

That's what I read as well. I read he wanted to test him to see if he was a traitor or not because Xemnas was suspicious of Marluxia.

 

I agree with all your statements, and I do say this, all of these parts I see are pretty much the same. Marluxia is suspicious of treason. Xemnas gives him superior of CO, and so on and so forth.

 

I was pretty sure it was Marluxia's castle to begin with, and he just gave it to the organization to use. And since Sora was near the castle at that time he(Xemnas) let Marluxia be the leader of the castle while Sora was in it.

 

Xemnas is the one who found it, making it his.

 

Pretty much, it was Xemnas's in the first place. But wait, who found it to begin with, I don't think Xemnas found it on his own. He needed help.

I keep forgetting, but I think it was when Marluxia and Vexen were talking in Castle Oblivion.

I don't remember anything like this,they only said the Organization found the Castle Oblivion,and that Xemnas thought the room of Awakening was there.

Actually,Axel was the one that was going to kill Marly,but since Sora got there and all,theychanged their plans.
