Implemented Making it so rep is no longer anonymous

I think the members who receive rep should be able to see who sent it.
Therefore there will be less comments that have no meaning like the most common one "."
I think people would send more of a reason why they de-rep/repped the person. I have had many reps that are cliffhangers or no reason comments, which I find very annoying and doesn't tell me anything.
The reason why I think the comments would have more of a reason is because, if someone left a comment like ".", then the member who received it would probably send a PM to this member. And ask like "Wth?".

Would cause rep whorring, as well as giving Neg rep because some gave it to you. AKA. Abuse of the System. It was also suggested already and shut down

Thats really up to the member, we cant do anything about that. And again, abusing the system :/ Because most members wouldnt PM, they would flame/ de rep back

It would cause a de-repping war because people would be outraged at how derepped them.

It is also nice to have someone rep you and know who it is, but if the person wants to stay anonymous that let them. If they want you to know, then they'll reveal themself.

Like previously stated, this would cause only more rep whoring and pointless negative rep based on revenge. It should be good enough that you even get rep, there's no need to know who repped you.

 

It sounds like a good idea in theory.

But when put into effect it can only lead to bad things in the end. Like what's already been said. There would be lots of harassment and flaming going on and we don't need that.

So I say no.

 

As much as I am for this, it really wouldn't work. Too many members are much too immature to have the privilege of seeing who de-repped them, because, like others said, they would abuse the system. Even if someone repped you in the good way, it would be a little "I rep you, you rep me thing".

 

Well I like the idea. But what if they dont want you to know that they derepped you.




Maybe do it so that you can only see you repped you?

 

As previously said this wold just increase the rep whoring by the current rep whores & would encourage others. Whoring of any kind is frowned upon...except attention whoring that's funny. XD

As Misty already said, "I rep you, you rep me thing" would go crazy (as if it wasn't already. :P)


I see no need to discuss this even more, besides i'm sure a similar idea has already been suggested.

I just noticed that whenever some1 gives you a rep. point, it's hard to tell who exactly it was unless they stated their name in the comment on the rite hand side or on a post or something like that. Is there a way we could incorperate some kind of link to some1's profile (like the ones they have on a post or something like that) so it's a heck of a lot easier to raise/drop their rep points. (or as a way to say thanks or ur welcome or something like that)

No, its anonymous for a reason. This would start **** like rep cheating and what not I think it is pointless.

 

really? cuz sometimes I find it quite inconvinient to track ppl down...or maybe that's just me...

 

People often don't want to be known if they rep/derep someone, if they would, they'd usually sign their name.

However... a lot of people have been derepping for the wrong reasons and have gone undetected. I believe allowing the user to see who derepped them would help solve this problem. At the same time, they could start an arguement about it... so I have more then one opinon. It could go either way...

I'll say no just so there isn't an abuse of rep.

Here's a scenario:

well known member gets de-repped by someone he doesn't like and he knows who's done it, obviously he'll go tit for tat and de-rep them, but maybe he gets all his friends to de-rep aswell, then one member gets bullied for an action he did, seeing who can rep you can only bring abuse.

If you get a really unfair rep tell a staff, or if someone gives you your next gem or something you could request to see who it was to thank them.

Basically, I say no for all the othere reasons. If you think a rep is really unfair, come tell a S mod or and Admin, and we can look at it for you.
