satsuki's not terrible.

 

I mean, thought they were all pretty bad but my standards are usually considered "unreasonable" by those around me when it comes to this shit. But I'm looking forward to how bad it really gets because the way they dealt with the onscreen text was more amateurish looking than actual amateur sub groups so I can only expect this to be a real dog.

 

I'll give you that, but hers is one of the voice actresses I feel needs to be at least good. She's too vital to the story to be barely ok.

I'm a little more lineant I suppose, as I found Sanageyama and Jakuzure to have perfectly fitting English voices, but everyone else so far ranges from "ok I guess that works" to "this is why I barely watch English-dubbed anime."

And yeah, those subs in the trailer were shite. I kinda expect the actual release will be better, but I won't be watching to see lol.

Ryuko is pretty rough; VA is pretty new to the scene though, so hopefully she'll get used to it. Ryuko's original VA was fantastic so I'm trying to not compare too much. SATSUKI IS MOKUBA KAIBA AND THAT'S THE WEIRDEST THING. Senketsu is ehhhHHHHhhh. I wish they got the guy who sang some of the OST tracks to do it -- he would've been pretty nice. Mako sounds really annoying though. Sanageyama is kinda weird, but I like his and Nanon Jacuzzi's VAs. Patrick Seitz sounds too similar to the guy in AoT in this trailer, but hopefully that's not the case with the whole show.

I've heard much worse, and since english dub voices and/or performances are generally pretty abysmal, this is to be somewhat expected, no?

Not as horribly as they ruined Mako. How could they not even try to get Andrea Libman?

Gamagoori is perfect, though. It sounds like they just flipped a switch from Japanese to English.
Same with Nonon, but she's not quite so good because that super high pitched voice just doesn't work in English. It's not all cutesy like it is in Japanese. It's just annoying.
I'll get used to Satsuki.

But really, I didn't expect much from the Kill la Kill dub as it is. It's such a Japanese show that I rally can't imagine much of it translating very well into English without tons of footnotes.

I was, but now I'm saying it outright. Nonon is certainly the most unpleasantly annoying character, but Mako is the most annoying overall. Mako is annoying in a kind of charming way, though, so it doesn't affect her status as Best Character.

 

Satsuki is ehhhhh. Senketsu is terrible.

Yeah and nah. They should do something similar, but not just take the efforts of someone else unless they paid them something.

Honestly, Troy Baker could have done well as Senketsu. Far better than the guy they've got now at least.

I honestly found Mako to sound alright.
