Over at LinkedIn, a game designer named Richard W. VanDeventer, who worked on several projects such as Mighty No. 9 and Lost Planet 3, has listed two Kingdom Hearts projects he has worked on from August 2014 to this last June. One of them is obviously Kingdom Hearts III. The other Kingdom Hearts project is called Kingdom Hearts 2.9 (listed as a PS3 and PS4 game). A screenshot of VanDeventer's LinkedIn profile can be viewed below:

Could Kingdom Hearts 2.9 be a Dream Drop Distance HD remake? Also, based on what VanDeventer wrote under the Kingdom Hearts III section, could we finally be seeing Pixar worlds in KH3?

Hm...this is kind of awesome. I just saw this news a few minutes ago and wondered if it was posted here. And it was. Assuming this is legit, as it was already said, it's obviously going to include KH3D in some way.

Whatever this turns out to be, I know I'm buying it.

Hate the name, but cool! Only thing that stands out to me is it mentions "attraction flow planning and documentation" under 2.9, which we all know is a feature new to KH3. Like libregkd said, it could be included demo, or maybe a standalone mini-prequel. Hoping for the former if anything, because I really want those ports.

Wonder what'll happen in the next few days, if Square responds at all. TGS is fast-approaching. Maybe there'll be an announcement.

I was thinking about that... I wonder if this possible HD port of 3D is basically the "Final Mix" version, where new abilities and other stuff are added, teasing their appearance in a future game (Ex. Slapshot in KHFM).

There's so many Pixar movies to choose from when it comes to which worlds we want to see. Toy Story, The Incredibles, A Bug's Life, Brave, Monsters Inc. Personally, I'd like to see a world based solely on Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. Bring back Mira, Booster, XR, and Warp Darkmatter.

While not impossible, I think that would change the balance of the game way too much for just a "Final Mix".

The more I think about it, the more it sounds like a remaster with a demo. Back to MGSV, I knew Ground Zeroes was for current and last gen consoles, and thought The Phantom Pain was only on current gen, but it turns out it's on everything as well. The Fox Engine was built with that in mind: it's extremely good at scaling back to work well on older platforms.

But we know that Kingdom Hearts III is only on PS4 and XB1. If it were just a demo, I'd think it would be on those two platforms, and not PS3. The idea that they would create a demo build for the PS3, when the game isn't intended for the console, is a little insane. Putting resources into make an inferior version of just a demo makes no sense. Everyone already knows about KH3, so it's not for advertising purposes. I'll bet that it's a remaster of DDD, and a demo of KH3 included with the PS4 version ONLY. This guy probably only worked on the KH3 part of it, but since this alleged 2.9 is also for PS3, that's how it was written on his page, even if it's only in the PS4 version.

And as much as I want it, I don't think it includes 1.5 and 2.5, because it would be weird to re-release that on PS3. But who knows? Early stages of news on an unconfirmed game, obviously. Little to go on right now. But I'll be watching this closely as it develops.

I really hope there will be a pixar world in KH3, as I think any pixar world would be a great addition to the game. I'm glad to see that multiplayer could still be a possibility, as I think they could implement some really cool ideas for it on the PS4 and Xbox 1

Honestly I'm still in disbelief about KH2.9, I mean it sounds awesome, I can only imagine what the game will bring. Also, looks like it's for PS3 and PS4, pretty interesting!

I think, as mentioned above, the best bet is an HD remaster of KH 3D for consoles, and perhaps a playable demo of KH III in the vein of Episode Duscae for PS4 players. I would enjoy such. After the past two HD collections, 3D is the last I need to revisit before KH III. Ironically, I just began a new playthrough of 3D on the 3DS two days prior to this announcement, thinking if an HD remaster of 3D was coming, it would have been announced already. Just my luck.

Starting to suspect this isn't real. They only have 2 visible connections, one of which is them, and the other is Tony Garb, who is a real person, but page is not clickable (not sure if that's a privacy setting thing or something else). KH13 cited that they are linked to other legitimate pages, presumably talking about Square Enix and Capcom, on their resume. But you don't actually have to confirm with a company on LinkedIn that you worked there in order for it to show on your resume. Just updated mine as a test, and the changes showed immediately.

I'm not a LinkedIn expert, so maybe there's something I'm overlooking. It's possible that you can set your profile so you can't see your connections (except for maybe your own, and any that were deactivated?). It's a very detailed page of a real person, which looks otherwise totally legitimate. But the fact that this news has been out for a while, and the page hasn't taken the information off makes me skeptical. Either Square doesn't know that the information is out, doesn't care, or has no power to remove it.

Anyone else have any insight on this?

Okay, that definitely adds more weight to it. It's a pretty comprehensive website. Odd that the image for 2.9 is of the leaked/mistake E3 showing. Kind of suggests he knows it's not public information yet. But nonetheless, really interesting.

It seems like the better idea to leave leaked information up, because once it's taken down you've pretty much confirmed it, though companies often do it anyway.

      Thanks for the info
