This is the thread where you can theorize about whether or not we can possibly live on distant planets, both IN or NOT IN our galaxy/solar system.

My thoughts? I'm too lazy to post them all. I'll just tell you I personally think, and partly know we could never do such things, considering most planets in our solar system have minor concentrations of oxygen. Jupiter being the least possible, considering it has no real surface.

Theoretically, we cannot live on most planets, due to a lack of oxygen. However, Mars is on a hiatus for me. I mean, there is ice on the planet, and that can be a source for water, but that would be extremely unlikely.

I don't think it is possible to live on other planets due to the lack of essential resources.

Mars is extremely possible. If we could find a way to overcome solar radiation and lack of oxygen, both of which are very possible, we can actually move there.

However, no other planets in our solar system are possible.

    Mercury: To atmosphere, too hot

Venus: We'd be melted by the sulferic acids that are covering it

Jupiter: Well...we'd be melted by the gases, no oxygen, WAY to much gravity, and no real surface

Saturn: Yet again, to much gravity.

Uranes: Smelly...>.< (Seriously though, no atmosphere

Neptune: Forgot why it's not possible, but it's not.

And anything outside our galaxy would take 100's of years to get too.

Neptune: Far too cold. And pressure often results in chemicals to burst out of the planet. Hence the black marks on it's surface. We'd need extremely advanced protection for survival.

And don't forget, Mars has very deadly storms. And that's nearly impossible to overcome, because it's a natural force. :/ (which sucks).

And Pluto...well...just a cold, barren rock in space. xP

    lol...didn't include pluto since it's no longer a planet...XP

And thanks for reminding me Darky...didn't spend much time studying neptune...

Well, the plan for living on Mars is not living ont eh surface, btu tin the massive gorges. At the bottom is where the ice is, and it's less likely for the storms to go down that deep.

Yeah, plus Neptune has a surface temperature is -400 degrees F.

Try -400 Degrees. Neptune is a very icy planet.

And yeah, Cin. Mars' oxygen level's are also very low, that being most important. Most of the oxygen was thinned out from the massive amounts of UV rays, from the sun.

I never did know ice was on that planet. I read about it all last week and not a word about it came to my eyes. :/ xD

If we could get out of this galaxy....yeah,its very possible.....but where we are now? Hell no.

Yes, there are planets like Earth out there with living beings. Heck, there are probably living beings on planets unlivable to us and maybe even creatures that can survive in space. There may even be the posibility we're living inside a fish that is alive in our universe.

    .........that's a horrible theory, ZotT....... >_>

And yeah, I agree. :/ I'm sure there is a planet somewhere out there that has the perfect star for warmth, water, and oxygen, and all that shaz. hell, maybe even creatures already inhabited(sp?) on it.

There are millions of other galaxies, anyway. xP

Hey, I'm a horrible person, but I do believe that there is life beyond this world.

That's not the point....hes asking if we could live on another world....which to me,is a yes(no in our galaxy anyway)
    I think...

You're talking about Alternate Realities, that's a different topic.

    Yeah, different topic...

Anyway, with the millions of billions of galaxies in the universe, it's nearly impossible for their to not be another planet like ours...there's about a 1 in 10000 chance however that it'll happen. But with all the chances it has, that ratio seems a lot nicer.

Well when you look up at night you see star's, and those star's could possibly have planets in their solar system, just like ours. (Note: Our sun in our solar system is considered rather small.)

So it is a high possibility.

Yeah, the sun would have to small like ours in order to keep life. If the sun were only a few hundreds miles biggers the Earth would be lifeless...:/

Earth get's bigger as time progresses. That's only because all star's go through that vicious life cycle, eventually causing a super nova.

    >_> xD
