Beating Project X Zone lets you do a New Game, with you bringing over all the items from your last save, but none of the accessories, you gain EXP slower, the levels of the enemies are even higher, and you can change the background music to whatever song you want?

It took me 60 hours to beat 40+ Chapters, over the course of many months because each chapter gets gradually longer, with the later ones sometimes taking almost 2 or more hours to beat....and the only good thing about it is that I can listen to some of the best music in the game? Basically, my reaction last night was this

Now excuse me while I be cheap and use my 3DS powersaves to not deal with the pain of said 40+ chapters in even greater, more excruciating pain.

Yeah, it sucks that Project X Zone wasn't more interesting. I'm like twenty-something chapters in and I doubt I'll be finishing it anytime soon.

I could bear the boredom to get to people like Dante, Chris and Ken/Ryu but once they're in your party it's just kind of boring. Like, all that's left to look forward to is more of the same.
It really sucks, man. Music was great but that's NOT enough...

I was pretty pumped for Project X Zone, caught it when it was half-off on the eShop, and... Played it a couple times only to never touch it again, lol. All the cameos are great and the dialogue could be kinda entertaining iirc, but it seemed like a long exercise in button-mashy monotony with little strategy to speak of. :c The story wasn't stupid in a fun way even, it was just kind of incomprehensible mush, so I lost motivation to continue.

...I feel like I just slammed it, but really I didn't think it was offensively bad. I just got bored. And I hadn't even gotten to some of the characters I was excited for lol. Maybe someday I'll pick it back up, but I'm admittedly glad I didn't pay full price for it.

But isn't the worst thing to say about a game that it's boring? Like, the whole point of a game is to stimulate a player in some way. Even a badly designed game can still give people enjoyment (see, Goat Simulator.)

I just can't stand the enemies and bosses in Dream Drop Distance. They're horribly designed. The secret boss is garbage. Also, leveling Dream Eaters...ugh. Neat worlds and great movement though.

At least we can both agree on Days being generally bland to play.

ddd is my go-to game for when i'm in the mood to kill things with a keyblade
i'm not critical of games at all nor am i knowledgeable enough about them to be so with any degree of confidence, so things like enemies and bosses being horribly designed would not even register to me. it's just a fun game and i liked the commands for a change. and dream eaters were a neat addition.

what's frustrating about days' gameplay is that it could have been good were it not for the menu. to me, that's really the only thing holding it back. the magic and items should have been made accessible through the touch screen or something. the panel system was a little odd but it's not the problem. and i don't hate days, i just don't like it as much comparatively. it's fine, but just fine.

Yeah FM, outside of its bonus content and critical, also still bored me to pieces.

I LOVE KH2. To me, it just never gets old, and imo it's actually the complete opposite of boring (and this is coming from someone who still hasn't had the chance to play FM). Might have to do with nostalgia or my fondness for the world choice + stories + bosses but yeah, I will shout my love of this game from rooftops.

also 3D was fun... for a while. flowmotion gets really tiresome after a while, and i'll usually find myself just spamming it (and that secret boss WOW what a bummer man AND ULTIMA WEAPON ISN'T EVEN THE STRONGEST KEYBLADE WHY???)

but yeah if it's boring for you that's fine just wanted to throw my obligatory objection out there~

And you can shout it. I encourage you to. I know people who said Wonderful 101 felt like work to them. Do I agree? Absolutely not. I'll shout all day that KHII's narrative delivery was boring, the worlds never felt like they had a purpose, and the combat was lesser than any action game I've ever played and I felt like it was on autopilot and not an interaction between player and enemy. And we'll cancel each other out, and that's fine. Gives two sides rather than one

The enemy design is what made that game less fun for me. Too often you're dealing with enemies that can grab or stunlock you or are way too damn big that you can't even have fun trying different things out and are mostly tunneled into using the cheaper attacks or spells. The best bosses were the ones about the size of Sora and Riku, since you could actually strategize against them. Flowmotion was a great addition at first, but I ended up just using it to get around the maps faster since they felt like a lot of empty space.

Days seriously felt like nothing but a chore for most of the game. "KIll x amount of enemies in bland map here." The combat's just ok, but outside of some good boss battles (specifically, near the end of the game,) the gameplay is forgettable. And the story only gets really good towards the finale. It really didn't feel like Kingdom Hearts for a majority of the game.

Kingdom Hearts II easily has the best worlds in the series: lots of visual variety and attention to detail, even if their story connections were weak as hell. The enemy design too was pretty good (save certain bosses COUGHDEMYXCOUGH and enemies like the Assassin Nobodies,) but the combat and story telling were messy. I barely have to worry about dodging or timing my blocks or sticking to specific strategies for battles: just mash X and heal when needed. You feel overpowered far too often in the game, making the optional bosses hella jarring in comparison. And we've all had discussion on the storytelling, which leaves just far too many holes and weird plot lines (the name "Ansem" to this day is still confusing, even though I know the story behind it.)

Kingdom Hearts 1 to me still feels like the best sum of its parts in the series: a fun and mostly simple story (at least in comparison with the rest of the series,) fun worlds that utilize both vertical and horizontal space (Deep Jungle could use work still,) combat that's fair in difficulty and skill requirement, great enemy design (I especially love the bosses in this game,) and BILLY ZANE.

Birth By Sleep, although it has the best combat system and second best storytelling, is let down by the pretty bad world design. Re: Chain of Memories also suffers from having...well, no world design really. I love the story, but it only gets fleshed out between rooms until the later half. The combat's decent too. Samey enemy design though.

So this goes from a PXZ thread to how the kingdom hearts games are boring. Well, at least they're both crossover games

That's how uninteresting Cross Boring Zone is.
