Depending on what country you live in, I want to know peoples opinion on whther their country should increase, decrease or keep the age of legal marriage.

Just say which country your from and its legal marrying age. Use Wikipedia or search the website if you don't know it! XD

Well in the UK you can get married when you are 18 without parental consent, however you can get married before that if your parents give consent.

I personally think that 18 is a good age for it to be made legal, it isn't saying that people HAVE to get married at 18, but it is giving them the choice. I think marriage before 18 is a little silly, before 18, whilst you might think you are all grown up (no offense to anyone meant here by the way), you are still a child. I don't see a 16 year old being mature enough to get married, admittedly SOME are, but they are the exception.

I am happy with it being 18 here.

I do think 18 is a good age to set it at considering that is the time people can have the right to vote in many places, be independent of parents, live on their own, etc. Before that with parental consent is another thing that is also present here which I think the age is 16 in most places in the U.S. with parental consent.

Depending on where people are and their cultures, marriages can happen and even be arranged at birth so laws will be different in some places for various reasons. For the culture though I live in, I think the way it is set up now is pretty good and gives people the option when they are old enough to be considered legally adults that they are actually treated like it. It does seem though people often make hasty decisions and marry at 18-20 which doesn't really tend to work out so well, but I still wouldn't change it because some people do actually succeed.

I think the legal marriage age in the U.S. should be 21. A lot of 18-year-olds let graduating get to their heads, and they decide they're ready for marriage when 99% of them aren't. 21 seems to be a more appropriate age.
