Kingdom Hearts franchise: One of the most overrated games ever?!

As usual, I was watching videos on youtube when I found THIS as one of my recommendations.

O_o Are you F****** kidding me? One of the most overrated games ever?! This is Madness!!!!

P.S. Not really as mad as you think :P Just asking for your opinions whether you agree or not.

 

A lot of people don't understand the magic appeal of KH, which I understand, it is a bizarre concept. I also understand that it has an extremely convoluted story that is difficult to follow, and this is coming from someone who has played all of the games, I can't imagine how crazy it would look to someone who has only played one or none. But I really don't care if people don't like it. It's important to me, I have so many good memories that came from the series, I think we all do, so I really don't care what some pretentious gamer living in his mothers basement thinks.

 

People who have never played the games will think its over-rated, but those who have played them love them dearly. ive never heard someone who has played kingdom hearts say "meh over rated, or i dont like it". thats just dumb

 

Actually, the guy plays it, he even LOVES it. But he calls the franchise stupid and it's still one of his most overrated games ever, as stated in the video.

 

Yeah i watched the video, but still. i guess his only vaild point of it being overrated was the complicated story, or that coded didnt need to be made :P. which i agree on the coded, i kinda like the complicated story, it keeps me guessing :)

 

I actually think that Coded isn't that bad. The gameplay is good too. But that video is the guy's most disliked video. Now I see why. XD

 

I disagree with him to an extent, allow me to explain.

Had you asked me 6-8 years ago, I would have told you flat out NO! But nowadays, it is hard for the series to live up to the hype of KH, CoM, and KH2, when all we essentially have is spin offs going on for almost a decade now. Yes, to those of us that adore the series and wanted a keyblade more than life itself, it works. The games were still great for the most part, and we love indulging into the story even further. But lets face it, hearing someone go on about their love of the first three KH games and then playing DDD or BBS as your first KH game, they don't capture that same magic as the first three. Again, I still love the sequels and I have not yet played a KH game that I haven't loved, but you can kind of see the argument.

I dont think so. But I think it is starting to spread around now.

 

Why would someone choose to play DDD or BBS as their first KH game? thats like eating a sandwich with no bread, it just doesnt make sense..

 

What else are you going to play? Sure, this fall you would be able to pick up the Remixes, but if someone had the inclination to run down to buy a KH game today to try for the first time, the handheld options are your only real option, am I right? Obviously if someone was going to play for the first time I would recommend playing KH1 or 2, but seeing how its been seven years since youve been able to buy one of those new at gamestop or walmart, wherever you go, you just don't have the option to pick a copy of either up very easily anymore.

 

Yes. Very overrated. It doesn't live up to the hype of the originals, and it won't, until KH3 of course.

 

But if you wanna get into the series wouldnt you wanna play the first one in the series? it just doesnt make sense to me to if you wanna get into the series and play a game thats the 5th or 6th installment in the series.

Yes, but what I'm saying is that your ordinary person who decides to try a KH game is pretty much forced to play one of the spin offs. It has been years since one of the originals has been readily available. Like I said, if someone today decided to try one and went to buy a KH game, they're forced to go with one of the newer installments in the series. I agree in full that you should play the originals; the spin offs don't capture that same magic as much as the KH and KH2, but because those two are so outdated, your average person wouldn't be able to pick either of those titles up, assuming they don't have a friend with the game. That will all change come fall, but for now, this is the dilemma.

 

I see that Roxas line getting trashed too often, and I'm sorry but I think even allot of the fans don't understand the gravity of his remark, which is to say that: Roxas didn't want Xion to leave. He was trying to encourage her to stay. Their time eating Ice cream together holds some of their best memories. He wants her to remember those and stay with him...... So let's get over that line already.

 

Agreed especiallly how they don t know he associates eating ice with bring friends

Gravity or not, it's still a terrible line and the translators should feel bad
