I had to read a chapter about place in art, and now I have to do two drawings.
"The first drawing should consider the theme of constructing an artificial place. The second drawing should consider the theme of deconstructing an artificial place."

I don't know if it means literally or theoretically. >:

I have all summer to do seven more drawings.

For the first one, depict a village covering a small planet that represents the fact that rapid technology growth is making our world so small that anyone can know anyone else as a close friend. How does this construct an artificial place? Consider this. Such a place as this was thought to be perfectly impossible only 20 years ago and now it prospers.

For the second one, depict the fall of the internet due to servers crashing all around the world for reasons unknown. This can represent the fact that such a utopian world in which everybody can know anybody on a personal level is impossible because all long distance friendships are doomed to fail the moment one person loses contact with the other.

And I believe it means it can be either literally or theoretically depending on your view of the prompt. As in, you could actually show construction and deconstruction in any of it's forms or methods.

 

Here's another good idea. Heaven and Hell. Heaven is what many people have constructed as the ideal afterlife (which is an artificial place) and Hell is the destroyed dream of Paradise.

Do they have to be the same artificial place?

 

Yeah...I might go with a figurative theme like I did with the time one, making the deconstruction one sort of a post-apocalypse type setting.

That reinforces the interpretation of an afterlife as an artificial place. I thought it through a lot more than you seem to think.
