Site News KH-Vids Goes Mobile!

As some of you may have noticed already, we have a new mobile style for the site! The feature came along with our recent upgrade to vBulletin 4.1.11, I spent a little time testing it out and making it look a little less generic, but it's now available for selection. Visiting the site with a mobile browser will likely default you to the mobile style; if not, you can reach it through the dropdown at the bottom of the site. It features a much more touch-friendly interface, less images for faster loading, magnified fonts, and so on.

Don't like the mobile style? No worries--there's a View Full Site at the very bottom that allows you to browse using whatever style you choose.

We hope this opens up the site and makes it a little more accessible for those of you not using a standard computer. :] Not all features may be available to those using the mobile style (though a great deal are), so again, it's your choice to use it or not. I should note that the homepage looks a little wonky when using the mobile style, but when our homepage modification updates, that'll hopefully be sorted out.

 

OMG! OMFG! I love it! i found out about it cuz i was loging on to khv on my tablet, when i should have been studying, but anyway, its very nice, good job.

 

Yeaaahh. This is so much better. The regular style totally glitches on my phone.

Now I can KHV every minute of every day all year long.

But yeah, I always hated browsing on my iPod, so this is very nice. <3

If those on the mobile style haven't found it, there is a little square on the upper left that gives you access to most extended functions, e.g. your PM inbox, profile, and so on. It took me a while to locate that.

It's been a pain to try and get on the site with my iPod, but this mobile site is great. Much more stable and it doesn't take very long to load.

Typing this by using the mobile site. Surprisingly better then I had hoped!

I wonder if this will mean I can type more with less aggrevation. I kinda got use to the glitchyness of using my mobile on the regular site, it will be kind of missed.

Browsing on my iPhone, I don't see any difference. It pretty much looks like the regular site, but smaller. Could someone screenshot the mobile site for me, cause I'm pretty sure that's not what I'm seeing...

I noticed that too.

Also:
- I can't open spoilers.
- Can't access 'Settings'
- Can't see username history or pins on accounts

Just asking, can this stuff be rectified/is it just me/whatever?

Obama nd my sig doesn't display when I use the mobile site. Just noticed with my change back.

 

Yeah, I don't have that. It looks exactly the same as the regular site for me.

 

You should be able to change the style to "KH-Vids Mobile" in the dropdown at the end of the page.

I actually really like this feature since I do tend to get on KHV on my phone/iPad from time to time.
Maybe I'll get to drunk post more too >_>

 

It looked like the regular site for me too at first. I had to change it from the dropdown menu on the forum index. Maybe that's where your problem lies too?

I like the normal "regular site" view better, but KHV mobile was a very nice addition.

Very nice. Do we know if it will work on Android-based devices yet like that? My tablet will show the regular site, but I do like the mobile version better.

 

Spoilers, username history, and pins can't really be connected to the mobile site as of yet, because they're non-official modifications. I will see if there's anything I can do about spoilers though! And iirc there was a way to get to the settings, I can poke around.

For you (and everyone): if you have visited KHV using your mobile device before, you will probably have to change to the mobile style because your browser has set a cookie to remember to use whatever style you typically use. Just use the dropdown box at the bottom of the page if you want to use the mobile style and it doesn't automatically appear.

Thank you! I don't have access to a computer, almost at all. Most of the time I enjoy using the full site, but I sometimes get frustrated with all the images loading. This might make it a little easier.
