Implemented KH Clips - Zipped/Rarred?

So, I'm currently downloading some of the KHII clips, and I've come to realize; why is there not a .zip or .rar file of all of them?

It would make everything a lot easier if you were to do this. First of all, it would be faster to download due to the compression, and you wouldn't have to click every link.

(Also, I'm not certain, but does Mediafire limit you to simultaneously download one file per computer? Either that, or it is because my internet is horrible right now. EDIT: I think its just my computer)

So, my suggestion is;
Whoever has the original files, add an option to download all as a .zip or .rar
It would make it a lot easier for people.

(I realize that having them all in one file may make it a very big file, so perhaps having them split up?)

 

I prefer offering them as a torrent, actually, just because I think it's a bit more efficient. That would of course require people to seed and I'm sure some other things, never set up a torrent before, haha. But that way at least people could choose what clips they want to download, at speeds potentially faster than a simple zip/rar.

 

Torrents would be a very good idea. The only problem though, is that you will need at least one person/a server constantly seeding. I'm not sure if the server would allow that excessive amount on there, though.

Also, if you do that, I'm assuming you would simply make a folder containing the files into a torrent, and making it possible to unhook the individual files?

Also, if you want it to be faster, you'll have to have a fairly decent upload speed.

 

Yeah, those are problems, which is why it might be better to offer both options (zips and torrents), or offer zips until we perfect the torrents.

And yes, don't want to force people to download every KHII scene ever, haha.

 

I think both options would be good, because there are a lot of people who don't have experience with the .torrent files and torrent software (the whole Peer to Peer deal), and some people have problems with it as well. Not only that, considering the age range on the site, many of the members are young and probably have parents who have only heard of torrents or peer to peer and will assume its illegal.

And of course you shouldn't force people to download all the scenes, haha, which is why my suggestion is to add an option, not remove all the others ^^,

 

I suggested the torrents a while back, but we didn't really come up with a way to do it. Maybe we could have one person, or a few people with all cutscenes of one of the games, seed that particular torrent (3 members with KH1 seeding at different times, 3 members with KH2 seeding at different times, etc.) uTorrent has a schedule you can set or full speed downloading, half speed downloading, seeding only, or no activity, if that helps anyone else come up with a course of action.

Also, uTorrent allows you to choose what files in a torrent you actually want, so you cna tick off the ones you want and not download the others.

 

The problem with just uploading a zip file is that we need somewhere that will support it, and it would be a large file in the end. The videos already have compression on them so zipping it won't do as much as you might actually think. IIRC when I was testing it out before I got something like a 95% or 98% compression ratio.

A torrent though is more reasonable. I'm not sure if the KHV server could seed it 24/7, admins would need to look into that, but I would be willing to seed it for a while.

Main problem at the momment is that although I think I could make it, Asus has been rather slow with my repair work on my laptop due to server issues of their own severely limiting communication.

 

I could upload, although it would take a while (slow internet) and would probably be in 1 GB parts if it would get that large. As for seeding although I am never on khv much I always have my desktop on. Just throwing that out there.

 

I have a premium fileserve account if you need somewhere to host large files. Torrents are good too, but I'm sure no one wants to seed for more than a few days or so.
