    How exactly do you get this to appear in your notifications? I'm kind of unsure about that.

    If I don't get a reminder on these thing, then I usually forget about them.

    From the group page (where the discussions are listed). you will see a bar at the top. If you look to the right end of it you will see "group tools" one of the options in there should be subscribe.
