Hello guys, I've decided to write a story about the events after Kingdom Hearts II because my love of Kingdom Hearts has been dying slowly and I decided this would be a good way to revive it. I hope you all enjoy it and I will try to add bits every day I can.

The story is about Kairi's role in Kingdom Hearts because it hasn't fully been explored yet. However, it mainly revolves around Sora and is told from his view so you can all follow it like drama.

I hope you enjoy it and I would appreciate all comments made on this thread or sent to me with ideas or appreciation of my work. I can't gurantee to include all your ideas, as it may get a little cramped :P, but I will do my best to make it enjoyable for you all.

I hope you enjoy it and it makes your Kindom Hearts experience that little more enjoyable.

    Kairi Princess of Hearts

    Prologue:
It was two years since the gang had returned to Destiny Islands. The Organisation had been defeated and it was time to adjust back to their normal lifestyles, going to school and hanging out at the beach whenever they could. King Mickey, Donald and Goofy all returned to Disney Castle but promised to visit when they could. It should have been the perfect fairytale ending but something troubled them.

After two years of fighting heartless and travelling to other worlds, the trio had changed. Sora was bored by the laidback atmosphere of the Island, always wanting to go somewhere new and meet new people. Riku found himself awkward in the company of others, large groups seemed so strange and different to him and he couldn’t express himself as he wished. On the other hand, Kairi did not suffer as much but she struggled to reintroduce herself to the strenuous ordeal of school and the ongoing problems of her modern lifestyle.

The truth was, they had all changed and there was no going back. The key had involved them all when it had chosen Sora and now they were paying the price. They made a solemn promise on the Oathkeeper to never tell another about their adventures. It was ok for Kairi for when she returned to the islands everyone seemed to have no recollection of the destruction of their world. However, Sora and Riku had been presumed lost at sea after their raft had been reported as gone by three local children, Tidus, Wakka and Selphie.

The boys had been in police custody for two weeks before they were allowed to go home to their parents, who admitted even they had given up hope. They were two outsiders and would never be fully admitted into society as they had been before. As far as everyone else was concerned they were different people, which in fact they were. Therefore, the three began to lead a life of solitude. It was miserable to think that they had saved all these people from the brink of oblivion but they would never know.

Their only solace was the island, the reminder of their mistakes and triumphs. The old wall paintings, the paopou tree, the assault course, this was home. It was a sad reminder that they were now outcasts, they weren’t hated or disliked but they didn’t fit in and probably never would. But they were happy, they had each other like always and that was all the family they needed. But sometimes, just slightly, they wished that it had never ended and that they were still a million miles away fighting side by side for the same goal, the same desire, together forever.

    Chapter 1

Sora smiled as he watched her wading through the water towards him. Kairi was glowing in the twilight sun and her body seemed to radiate splendour towards him. He suddenly felt extremely self-conscious and realised he was sitting on the sand crossed-legged and with his mouth wide open. Snapping to his senses he assumed a masculine prose, placing his hands on his hips and holding a stern stare. “Oh Sora… you look so stupid!” giggled Kairi. Down heartened, Sora lowered his hands and resumed his gormless look, disappointed that he had embarrassed himself again.

“I am so looking forward to going ice-skating tomorrow”, grinned Kairi, “I haven’t been since I was a little girl in Hollow Bastion”.
“Why would you want to slide along in the freezing cold anyway” moaned Sora, “I just don’t see the fun in it”
“That’s because you are a total sap Sora” exclaimed Riku making them both jump.
“Why do you always sneak up on us like that Riku!”
    “Yeah it’s totally immature!”
“Says the two hopeless lovers” laughed Riku, turning both their faces bright pink.

“Well we are all here now, lets go!”
“Damn, I forgot my skates!” suddenly cried Sora.
“You’ll just have to borrow some down there then dopey”, laughed Kairi.
“I am not wearing those sweaty, blunt and broken pieces of plastic they have there! I’d rather skate in my socks!”
“Ok, then” the others laughed and left Sora scratching his head in disbelief. How would he tell the others that he didn’t know how to skate, it was so embarrassing. Everyone on the island had visited the local rink since they were tiny and he knew he would make a fool of himself.

    Chapter 2

They arrived at the ice rink all in high spirits, except Sora of course, finding the rink was almost empty but for a small group of children and a couple in the corner. “Alright! Let’s go!”, cheered Kairi racing towards the changing rooms. Sora sighed and followed Riku gloomily to the males room. This was going to be awful, he was freezing, hungry and he didn’t want to be disgraced by the surprisingly good children. Riku sensed Sora was feeling down and turned around with an inquisitive stare.

“What’s up Sora? You haven’t been yourself all day…”
“Oh… nothing” worried Sora, he knew Riku would find out soon enough but he would rather it was later. He knew he wasn’t believing him. “Ok, but you better liven up or my skill on the ice might grab her attention from you”, laughed Riku. Sora gasped, then realised he was joking and chuckled half-heartedly. He hoped that she didn’t care he was so hopeless, but more and more he realised each day that he was a gormless lover.

They came out fully-kitted to find Kairi standing in a white top with matching trousers, topped with a purple scarf bringing out the colour in her hair. He couldn’t help but stare as she ran towards them awkwardly, practically falling onto Sora in an embrace. “You can take me around first”, she giggled. Pace rushing Sora opened his mouth to explain himself but with a sudden yank he was being pulled by his arm onto the ice. “Well I’m screwed now” he though as Riku led the way forward with a graceful leap forward onto the ice.

“Kairi… I can’t” started Sora, when she jumped two-footed onto the ice still holding on to him. He had no choice but to follow, shouting in panic. It was far worse than he expected. As he flailed his arms Kairi slipped from him, head first into the ice. Sora, however, continued his journey across the ice, screaming and waving his arms as he went. Startled, he regained his balance quick enough to look up and see as he landed head-first between the blonde woman’s cleavage and together they fell onto the ice. Bright red, Sora turned to see an unhappy boyfriend, Riku rolling all over the ice laughing and Kairi startled, holding a bleeding nose in one hand.

    Chapter 3

This day just kept getting worse thought Sora. He had been thrown out of the ice rink only to find it was raining outside. The others weren’t speaking to him and he felt that by not saying anything he has made the situation far worse. At random points he would hear Riku snickering behind him but he saw Kairi shooting stern looks at him and he quickly got the idea. When they arrived back at Kairi’s house, she led them up to her bedroom without a word and began pacing the room. Sora sat down on her bed, but quickly regretted this as the other two stood above him.

“Sora, that was totally immature and embarrassing! You could have got us into serious trouble”. He stared at his feet in disgrace and felt Kairi’s eyes glaring at his face. “If you had just told us about it before hand, we would have been able to help you! Now we are banned from the rink and you gave us an even worse image!”
“That woman, will never forget you now Sora” said Riku with a smile, but it quickly vanished with a look from Kairi. Sora realised he had humiliated he had made her feel, plus not she felt even more of an outsider, considered a freak and a troublemaker. He didn’t know what to say.

“Look, I’m sorry Kairi. I didn’t mean to embarrass you….”
“Oh forget it Sora, you’re hopeless!” yelled Kairi and stamped out the room. This was too much for Riku who fell onto the bed next to Sora, crying with laughter.
“Oh shut it won’t you! She’s really upset!”
“Yeah, only because of how that woman smiled at you when you were kicked out!” laughed Riku, who slowly regained control and sat up. “You need to find her and apologise, but not now, give her some time. We should come back tomorrow together”. It was agreed and the two left the house without saying goodbye. At home Sora took out the old lucky charm he always kept with him and realised this time he had gone too far.

    Chapter 4

The next morning Sora got up early and rushed to Riku’s house to get to Kairi’s place to apologise. The groggy Riku was not impressed but they set off together, laughing about what the boyfriend of the women at the ice rink had thought. They knocked on the door and waited patiently, however Kairi’s grandmother came and smiled when she saw them. “Hello boys, I’m sorry but you just missed her. She’s on her way home now.” She saw their puzzled faces and realised what had happened. “Oh, didn’t she tell you. Kairi has gone back to Hollow Bastion.”

“I can’t believe it” sighed Sora, she must really feel down.
“It’s only for a week” shrugged Riku, “I’m sure we can cope with that. Sora wasn’t sure though, Kairi had never gone anywhere without letting them know first. What really puzzled him is why she went back to Hollow Bastion. He knew that was where she came from originally but she always refused to speak about it. Deep down, he was jealous. He wanted to go travelling again but Kairi decided to do it on her own, it wasn’t fair. Feeling angry now, Sora kicked the sand and left Riku standing.

In his room Sora sat thinking of a plan, someway to get off the island. He wished he could get Donald and Goofy’s help but they were all busy in Disney Castle. Then he remembered the bottle they had found on the island a few months back, the king had sent it. It told them of the unrest outside their island and how the heartless were still at large, however their help was not needed at the moment as things were all under control. Still Sora couldn’t help feeling worried about Kairi. Radiant Gardens or not, Hollow Bastion could be a dangerous place with heartless about. Hopefully Leon and the others would take care of her.

    Chapter 5

It was funny being back, it was just how she remembered it when she was a little girl. The winding halls, the magnificent rooms, the library, it was just as she remembered. She remembered living here with her father years ago but it was so long ago she could never recall his face. It made her sad to know that she would never remember the face of the man that brought her up. She loved her grandmother dearly but she always felt guilty for letting his memory fade.

Leon, Yuffie and Aerith had met her when she arrived; Cid had given her a lift in his new custom gummi ship, the Voyager, when her grandmother contacted him. They were all so pleased to see her but had to admit she had changed so much since they had last seen her. She felt extremely awkward when she realised that most of them were staring at the change in her body, but she knew they were just surprised. They all ate together and told tales of what had happened since their last encounter. Everything was calm in Radiant Gardens now and there was no more work needed to be done with the defence system being fully operational.

It was only when she thought about it that she realised this was no longer home. The place felt alien to her and she longed for the feel of the sand beneath her feet and the fresh sea air. She loved the island, the Paupou tree; the….it just wasn’t home anymore. Nevertheless, she knew this was where it all began. This is where the whole adventure that connected them all had been born, the heartless created, and the door to light had been discovered meaning Kairi had been hidden away for her own safety. None of that mattered now. The Princess of Hollow Bastion had returned.
