Since a lot of people tend to dislike him, I thought I'd start a discussion thread on him.

I personally don't mind him or his music. A friend of mine doesn't really like his early music, but does basically like Pray, As Long As You Love Me ft. Big Sean, and Beauty And A Beat ft. Nicki Minaj -- though he doesn't really like his latest one: All Around The World ft. Ludacris. However, he does respect him as a person for being able to deal with all of the haters.

    Anyway, discuss.

His music doesn't appeal to me which isn't really on him but rather my own preferences. Didn't really mind him as a person at first, but after he signed the welcome book at the Anne Frank Museum that he hoped she would've been a "Belieber" I do not like him.

There is a line between confidence and being too damn arrogant, and he crossed it with that for me.

I didn't mind his music or his persona when he was first becoming popular in the mainstream. It was obvious that his target audience was pre-teen girls, so I was indifferent to him. But it seems that he's starting to go kind of off the rails lately.

This, however, is forgiveable imo. Even the museum staff have commented that it was innocent. I read it more like "hopefully we could have been friends" or something along those lines.

I have a dislike for him and it's down to the fact that first I don't like his music (not his fault though, I just don't like them) and, as Plums said, his arrogance and probably his fanbase. Mostly the intense fans like the ones involved in "cut for Bieber", that aggravated me so much it's untrue. It saddens me to find people cutting from depression let alone something happening to someone else, it felt like it cheapened the people who do it as a result from serious mental health problems. Also, it was all over Bieber smoking weed and they were hoping that he'd stop, the logic is understandable but no, just no- what about the thousands of other people smoking weed, even celebrities that they completely disregarded. Uhhh... sorry, it annoys me. Of course, that isn't Biebers fault, that's his fans but he just seems to get a lot of bad press which I hear about.

People who make fun of him for sounding like a "girl", I think that's pathetic because he just has a high voice, it's a good one, I think if you don't like him then you should have a legitimate reason other then he sings like a woman.

I honestly was a really big fan of his when he was on his youtube channel, I was subbed to him and really enjoyed his stuff. I didn't have a crush, I never really have on anyone, I just really enjoyed his music. I wasn't interested in figuring out about him and learning about what he does, I still do not.

When One Time came out, I was really excited for him hitting it big time and enjoyed the song a lot, heck I still like, but then it went downhill for me. I really did not like Baby, and then I just slowly didn't like his music and that is all. So I am just going to say I have no... um, real opinion on Justin Bieber, and don't pay attention to what goes on in his life, I have my own to worry about.

But, even though others may disagree, I am happy he got known for his talent rather than have celebrity parents or something... and if he does that just shows how much I don't care about learning about him...

At first he seemed like another young kid making it big through music (like a lot of Disney Channel/Nick stars), and I didn't really pay attention to him, though I knew a few people who liked him; I was indifferent. In recent years, however, he's become a wreck in his personal life (not private life, since he really doesn't make an effort to hide anything) and what was innocent, "entertaining" (I use quotes because I myself only enjoyed one or two songs) music has turned into autotune heavy trash. Don't get me wrong, autotune is, unfortunately, an industry standard nowadays, but he had potential. He's just thrown that all away in favor of lazy writing, ridiculous outfits and overly publicized relationships.
Whatever sense of hard work he may or may not have had four years ago is all gone, and I don't see much of a future left for him.

A friend of mine in real life likes to say that using auto-tune equals bad natural signing and is why they use it, which I disagree on. For example, if you've heard Big Time Rush, they indeed use auto-tune, but when you see them naturally sing on the series, their voices are excellent.

In short, auto-tune can be used just because. It's not *only* because some aren't as good at singing.

I don't really care about Justin Bieber to be honest. And it's more "The guy's never done anything to me so he's pretty cool." I've never met him so I can't really form an opinion.

It's his fans I can't stand. I mean, if you like his music for whatever reason, that's fine. But if you like him to the point where you're going to cut yourself because omg he's smoking weed. No. I cut myself for actual reasons for years. Not because some celebrity I never met was doing something I disagreed with. I have the same reaction to balanced people carving cutsey hearts and lyrics into their arms. No. I had a legitimate reason to cut myself. Because I needed help. Don't trivialize something people do as a last resort for stupid reasons.

[ I say balanced because that's the only way I can describe it. Balanced, well-adjusted. I don't want to say 'normal' because that implies that I and people in the same situation are abnormal. ]

The Anne Frank thing was a bit insensitive. I can see how he could have just wrote: 'If Anne were living today, I hope we could be friends' or something. Rather than write 'I hope she'd be a Beliber'. Because that comes across as arrogant when you're supposed to be humbled by the experience.

So yeah, I'm neutral toward him and can't stand his rabid fans.

Didn't the whole smoking marijuana thing turn out to be a false rumor?

    Regardless, I agree with you.

I have a real dislike for his music, which has some sort of an influence on how I deem him to be. To me, his music is very generic. By that, I mean that it sounds like every other thing out there. It has no deep value; it's only out there to appeal to a certain, wide audience. He doesn't have to try. Girls will love him for his looks, and they fall for the false-emotion that is put into the songs. There is nothing moving about his singing or the lyrics.

For that, I see him as arrogant. Instead of trying to do something different in a genre of music where basically no one (who makes it big) tries at all, he's just like them. There is no passion for it in him. There is no art in what he does. What he does is a way to make as much money as possible, which is something that I find personally offensive.

I've also heard about what he is like as an actual person, the fame making his head become to big. I can see that in a person like him. I've found that calling him a girl because of his voice is just childish and stupid. Everyone has different ranges. He presents himself as an arrogant, self absorbed young person, which is something I'm not that well fond of either.

i was pretty neutral with him before. like i liked that story about how he allegedly pistol whipped a kid during laser tag, and then said that lame "less hazin more lazin" line. but lately, he seems to have turned on this "******" mode.

To be honest, all hype on him should've died off years ago. His music is meh at best and his attitude to the public is getting even worse. Every time he's on the news, it about him in some sort of issue.

It's annoying to see him or hear about him. He really needs to be told a lesson. I was neutral for a bit, but after his recent actions, I have to go on a negative standpoint now.

Justin Bieber is alright. I like him as a person. I don't like a lot of his music as it's just not the type of music I like. I will say that one of his latest songs 'Power' I do enjoy listening to. Other than that though, I don't really care for his music. The main reason I never liked him that much was because of how quickly he grew in popularity. That's just one of my personal issues though. Partly why I can't stand viral videos, and other things of the like.

In the end, he's pretty cool. He's very talented and good at what he does. I give him props for getting where he's at today. And for all the haters out there, get over yourselves. Take a look at his backstory. Take a look at what he had to go through to get where he is. I don't care if you like his music or not. Your personal taste in music cannot define another human being.

You lot can hate him if you like. The media is always going to over exaggerate anything that's going to make him look bad. Let he who's never f'd up throw the first stone. I'll gladly live in a glass house.

    This.

I don't deny that he's made mistakes. My mom has told me that she's heard that he physically pushes someone when he's angry (although I doubt it's anything major and therefore not enough to hurt someone). He also appears to have general attitude problems. However, just like any of us, he's human, and we all fuck up sometimes. Just look at my mom and I with our constant arguing.

I think there's a difference between making mistakes and being a complete asshat. If we were to look a few years back, I will not deny what he has done were mistakes. Right now though, I strongly do not believe he has committed "mistakes." I think he's acting way too overconfident. Sure the media over exaggerates from time to time, but he sorta needs to lean some manners (cmon...the Anne Frank issue crossed a line).

It doesn't matter. He's still human, and all humans can have their "being an asshole" moments.

In regards to the Anne Frank incident, there was nothing really wrong with that. As Mish stated, even the museum had no problem with it and even appreciated it.

I'm generally indifferent to him and his music, mostly because he feels irrelevent now (at least to me) compared to his earlier years. But yeah, the whole Anne Frank thing was stupid, but the world's full of people who do stupid things. *shrugs* What can you do?

I was indifferent for him at first, but I recently start to hate him. Mostly because he's so arrogant and overconfident. And that he basically spams autotune on most of his songs. So yeah, the Anna Frank thing crossed the line for me, but most people must have done something stupid once in their life. That's human nature, there's nothing we can really do about it.

To be perfectly honest I don't like him at all. I don't like his music and I especially don't like him as a person either. Some of his fans are bloody insane too. I dunno man, he just rubs me the wrong way and while I kinda had an indifference towards him a year or two back that incident at the Anne Frank museum I kinda just went "You know what I actually don't like him".

I have no problem with Justin himself. Never really liked nor disliked his personality. And I'm pretty neutral when it comes to his music. It's some of his fans that I have a problem with. A good number of them tend to be very, well, crazy (can't really come up with a better term).
