Kinda figured it was better than taking forever to find a way to make our old one work. I'm just going to turn it in with the things I bought today, and probably my old DS Lite(well, that's still questionable, since I'm not sure if it's quality is good enough with that chip on the hinge). So hopefully I'll be able to play .hack before I leave, as well as get a box to keep all the stuff together by the time we move, because that'll make it easier to keep all the stuff together. And, if anything goes wrong with it, I can't just return it for a refund.....or at least I better be able to, since it's only disks that gamestop seems to have a problem with returning.

I just assumed that they were expensive because of how rare they are.

Well, even if I did feel like getting a backwards compatible PS3, it would have been even more of a pain than getting an AC Adapter. And as much as I want to get a PS3, I don't really have the time to get one right now, since I'm going back to California in a week, and I'd like to get something that I know is backwards compatible with all of my games, instead of buying something online that says it is but isn't

But the PS2 is only backwards compatible with PS1 games. It's just regularly compatible with PS2 games.

Stuff isn't more expensive in Canada. Canadian dollars are just worth less than American Dollars, so they adjust the prices to compensate for that.
