So I just went down to two places to see if they had job applications. One, which recently just opened last week, just requires resumes, and the other has the application online and also requires a resume.

Any suggestions on writing a good resume? I had DigiTools during my junior year (2010 - 2011), but that was long ago, and I've forgotten the essentials on writing resumes.

    Thanks in advance.

Well, you could check for resume templates online. Most places will ask for a resume and even if they don't, it's good to always have it for a possible job.

A student resume usually just has a list of the person's skills and good points. What they can do, and what kind of education they have. It shouldn't be too extensive for a high-school kid or a graduate.

If you have Microsoft Word, there's a template in the program that you can use. Othewise, this is the format I used for my resumes:

Objective- this tells the employer your career goals, in brief.
Qualifiations-list your diploma or GED here, and what year you earned them. If you just started college, mention that as an ongoing thing.
Work Experience - don't forget to count any volunteer work, if you can. They love that.
References-list at least 3 people that you are not related to who you think know your work ethic best. Make sure you post their contact info-they do check that.
Special Skills-Are you bilingual? How are your computer skills? People skills? Put anything you think is relevant here in regards to your skills.

I really watered this down, as the resume I pulled this from is quite extensive (but remember that I'm 24, out of college and working, so my resume has a lot more meat in it at the moment), but this should do. Heck if you want, I can help you write it if you wish. Just note me.

well first thing is to give yourself enough time because this takes a lot longer than you would think when doing this from scratch. make sure to quantify things whenever you can. for example "supported users in company" can be "supported x number of users in company". make sure everything you put on your resume is true.

also, don't put Microsoft Word as a special skill, because it's 2012 and it's not one.

If you want, I can give you what my resume looks like, so you have a general idea on what to write. You don't have to follow my template. :P
