I've got a riddle for you /khv/

There are 4 girls, and 4 apples in a basket. Each girl takes an apple, yet one apple remains in the basket. How is that possible?

 

Are one of them holding the basket or something?

 

One girl takes the basket with the apple in it.

 

3 girls takes 3 apples.

The remaining girl takes the basket with the apple still inside, and so effectively "taking the apple"

A man is late for an appointment and, in his haste, takes a corner so fast that 2 wheels were on the pavement, Yet a police man witnessed this and did not give the man a ticket. Why?

 

I've heard something like that before! Uhmmm... Was the police man the guy late for the appointment or something?

A human. Four legs is a baby, two is an adult, and three is a senior, the third "leg" being the cane.

 

It's a favorite of mine though. Correct.

Suppose you want to cook an egg for exactly 3 minutes. You have only a 5 minute hourglass timer and a 2 minute hourglass timer. Using these 2 timers, how can you boil the egg for exactly 3 minutes?

 

It's more of a reference to the riddle used by the Sphinx in Greek mythology.

 

Start both at the same time and wait till the two minute one is done, then begin cooking immediately

 

flip them over at the same time, when the two minutes run out on the first you put the egg in for the remaining 3

You have a pistol in your hand and you're looking at your friend, standing opposite you, a few feet away.

They are in danger.

How do you save their life with ONLY your pistol if no human, animal or any other physical or otherwise-being capable of volatile action is shooting/attacking your friend but they ARE in danger.

You can ONLY use your gun, you cannot move from your spot and your friend cannot move from theirs, there is only you and your friend, no one else - you can't let go of the gun.

How do you save your friend from danger, using the pistol, without killing them?
