358/2 Days It's a Debate from GameStop

I went to GameStop on the 2nd week of May and I asked them about Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. I was curious to see if the release date they gave before changed for what ever reason. When I went to this particular Gamestop store, they told me that the release is set for September 1st. It's obvious that it's two days later then they said before. Once again that's not a confirmed date either, so I'm only taking with a grain of salt. We'll have to wait and see what Square announces as the release in Japan occurs.

So, here's the debate part. I asked them if they are looking forward for the release and they looked at each other and started to laugh. I was playing along and acting like I was agreeing with them. I basically just said "yea, I guess so", but I truly didn't agree with what they were saying. They told me that they are not looking forward for the game, because the Kingdom Hearts series have been dragged out so much. "They should've released this title a long time ago. People are getting sick of waiting." He also stated that not many people have been asking for the Kingdom Hearts series. Later the other guy pitched in and said yea, it's kind of a joke like Final Fantasy. The FF series was really good too, but it's like no one cares for them anymore.

 

Then again, Mike, it's Gamestop. They seem to laugh at any game that isn't a FPS or something, as I found out myself when I picked up Professor Layton for my DS one of the last times I ever shopped there. He has a point about how people are probably getting sick of waiting, but he probably could've handled that better rather than making a joke out of it.

 

gamestop people don't know anything and, like nashida said, they only like either an FPS of Grand Theft Auto. If you asked in Japan (of course we know their release date) the employees would be bouncing off the walls because America, with all their "I'm tough cause I like SHOOTING" emotion, has shifted over to shooters.

 

Gamestop's relase dates always change I swear to God..when I went to go pick up a Sonic game. Black Knight when it was supposed to be out on March 10th. It came out on like March 4th.
So I was late when I came there on the 7th to check.

It annoys me that they are always changing the dates.

 

Interesting because in California, GameStop is very excited about Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days coming out. They have a bunch of them on order......

 

Gamestop depends on wmho the worker is you talk to. At the one by my house, i've gotten to know one of the guys and he is always recommending RPG and can't stand fps. Where as there are others there that only deal with casual or fps games. Everyone at the gamestop by me are extatic for 358 and BBS.

I don't get why you guys think it will take so long for Days to come out in North America.
You do know that Kingdom Hearts: II came out in Noth America two months later from Japan?

 

Are you seriously complaining about a game coming out a week before scheduled?

Tell that to the people who work at my local Gamestop. Though I'm not a big fan of shopping there. Even if the local staff isn't a bunch of idiots and jackasses.

Of course they don't know, not even the developer knows. Its called a tentative release date and its subject to change no matter who you ask. Until the official release is announced, it is subject to change on a whim.

 

A gamer doesn't work at GameStop, therefore their opinions are minimal. What a waste of time if you ask me, to bother with their opinion.

I will agree it has been too long, but really a game takes a lot of work. It could mean S-E is working hard on it. It could also mean they are dragging out our patience so we buy it without concern to how good it is.

 

what makes me laugh is gamestop is one of the best shops for games in the gaming industry, but they are by far the most unreliable source for accurate info.

Depends on the store, really. The Gamestop closest to my house is filled with the "FPS-crowd," like what most of you described since they're much larger in number in over the pond. It's the same with people in general. A lot of the time, you'll come into contact with people who have different opinions than you, other times you'll find people you agree with.

But I wouldn't expect any of the stores to know anything about the NA release date. Chances are they'll know when we know.

it really depends on the workers. at my local gamestop they are excited about Days and have promo posters.

as for release dates, take GameStops word with a pinch, no, a pound of salt. they always come up with ballpark dates just to keep the masses from complaining.

 

Those people are dumbasses. Someone said that KH has a biggees fanbase than any game, 'cept for ninjas in orange snowjackets. Obviously, they either never heard of it, or are just a dumbass.
