umm.... this is kind of odd to talk about but I'm wondering if this is a real issue. I think my speech ability is slowly weakening along with my memory..... for example I can speak using longer, more complicated words and also I can write poetry and write regularly as well but when I try to speak normally (or simply put talk to less verbally advanced i suppose would be the term) I often forget what I was saying mid-sentence or stutter and stumble over my words. I don't know but I can still speak poetically and sing well but simple words and sentences are quite often a challenge. and do not get me started on memory I cannot remember numbers or locations to save my life. I didn't have this problem a few years ago. I do not know maybe i took a nasty blow to the head or something but those cognitive faculties are somehow degrading. any suggestions or ideas at all?

It's probably a matter of habit. If you try to make an effort to dumb-down your speech, you'll naturally appear less coherent than someone who normally speaks that way. As for remembering numbers or places: Can you give an example?

You're not alone. I've forgotten phone numbers too, including my own. I don't even have my cell memorised.

It's really a matter of how much you use the abilities. If you don't need to remember phone numbers, or usually use speed dial, then you'll naturally forget them easier than if you have to type them from memory each time. It's the same with places. If you start moving about on your own, where you can't rely on someone else, it becomes easier.

Yeah I knew I wasn't alone but still its pretty bad when part of your memory fails you at such a young age but maybe thats a trade off for my other talents who knows but if you really want an example of how bad my speech is usually here's an example....

Me: so as I was saying did you know that cognation processes are different for every individual
    Friend: do wha?
Me: I was only saying.......... wait what was i talking about?

    or the ever classic

    Me: well w-w-what d-d-did you think ab-bout.....
    Friend: what?
Me: damn it i can't talk right

Sounds like a fairly normal conversation. Happens to me fairly often. (Usually when I haven't been paying attention.)

Another explanation: You construct complex sentences in your head before saying them, while you immediately speak simple sentences as you think them, so they're not fully-formed.

Wait a second. You have a migraine? That's not normal. You may want to see a professional about that.
