    I mean, seriously.
You go to school to learn, not to care about what people wear.
So, someone wears an obscene shirt to school. Big deal.
    Spaghetti-strap tops? Who cares.
As long as the clothing doesn't make like, overly obnoxious noise, tha it should be fine.

Opinions on this are welcome. :]

I like uniforms, but that just me. <_>

I do agreed. School is for learning, but in this age, appearance is everything. Kids tend to express themselves more threw there clothing and it represents everything the do. /:

i've always seen dress codes as worse then normal clothing (looking at the dress code for girls, i always found it easier for them to be immodest)

like i mean, they wear a freakin skirt, now girls, tell me how easy it is for a guy to look upp your skirt when its SO SHORT! or how easy it is for the skirts to come off?

now, the male clothing is better. lol

    xD

    So to answer your question.

No, there's no real point in uniforms. 'Cause the schools, are just breaking down these students to be 'real human beings' and not someone evil, yeah? :D

A dress code/uniform is a way to prevent bullying via clothing and personal style. Its true, we had a freaking lecture about it.

But it makes everyone look like clones.
What's not to make fun of about clones?
Oh, and students in general hate dress codes.
I'm not saying there's not certain individuals who like them.
Just, the majority think they really blow. o_o

Well if you're in the Army I can see why there's a dress code. As sad as it sounds, it's a proven fact that a uniform brings people together. Unification through common attributes such as clothing creates a bond between everyone involved, which is important in a military situation. I'm sure you realize the importance of having to trust your allies and know you're all fighting for the same goal, or that you're all part of something bigger. Yeah, dress codes are meant to bring about conformance, but in some circumstances conforming is important. In a normal school setting however, where students should have individuality encouraged, uniforms do nothing but stunt intellectual and cultural growth.

yea i think that was the reasoning behind it. kids ARE immature enough to start a fight over something as pointless as what someone is wearing to school.

i honestly am fine either way. i've been in both situations before, some of the schools i attended needs uniforms, some of them don't. it didn't seem to make a difference to be honest.

Would a clone disrespect another clone?
And those who think they blow are usually in one big group, and that group copies each other anyway so most of the school kids are already clones without the uniforms. I might not be an expert but i'm experienced in this area beyond what I would prefer.

Actually, yes a clone would disrespect another clone.
    Watch I Robot.
And no, the people who think dress codes blow, and they do, don't hang out in one group.
Most people in school hate uniforms, no matter what kind of gang/clique/cult/whatever they hang out in.
    Individuality.
Does the word mean anything anymore?

Induviduality is a lie unless you truely understand what it is to be alone, and obviously your not experienced enough to be able to know the true meaning behind dress codes and probibly never will just like so many I knew when I was in school. *leaves as its pointless giving opinions to a biased question*

actually people didn't seem to mind where i went to school. it's one of those things that are just normal.

and for individuality, i think that comes from a person's personality much more than it would ever come from clothing. wearing different clothes does bring out individuality but the bulk of it comes from a person's personality.

In my opinion I don't really think that uniforms are really needed. I mean as long as nobody is wearing anything to distracting, then it should be just fine.

I think they are VERY unneeded. There's no real point except you don't have to spend 5 minutes picking out your clothes. Overall, they really shouldn't be used. I can see that they would go by some honor when used in the late 1800s and stuff, but anything beyond that is superfluous.

Try having to wear a full uniform which dictates everything to long long boys hair should be in relation to the collar, how high girls heels can be in inches (and teachers have got out rulers to check them) as well as dates for when girls are to wear tights and when they are to wear white ankle socks.

Pretty totalitarian, and completely unnecessary. We had a non-uniform day recently (where we had to pay £1 towards the School Aid Romania fund) and everyone was just so much happier. We weren't as bogged down (it is actually quite heavy), we felt better and it was nice to see a bit of variety during the day for once! However, I also realised that school shoes have much more grip than converse (my feet were slipping every step on the ice >_>) and that a uniform allows for much more pocket space >_>

Dress codes originated in private (non-secular) institutions, and the idea behind them was to keep students from being distracted by members of the opposite sex. Myself being currently under one, I find them stupid, but I could see how someone could want to use them.

Well when girls wear mini skirts it's possible for them to attract stalkers.....thats what I heard on this one show and that's what I think too....I don't know about the boys though
