Chain of Memories is that jenova behind him?

on the final boss marluxia has this....thing behind him. it most likely isnt but it looks like jenova

 

Yeah......in that "we edited it for Kingdom Hearts" kinda way

And the proper pronoun for Marluxia is it.....Marluxia is an it (certainly not he)

 

lol maybe they decided to add more FF characters into the game and a Jenova refrence is greatly liked by most FF fans I'm sure. Just another reason people buy the games

 

If I remember correctly that was designed to look like the grim reaper (which, with proper knowledge of Japanese culture could be seen a mile away) to enforce Marluxia's theme of death, but in more of a twilight sense because he is a nobody.

I will grant you that it is strikingly similar to Jenova but I doubt it was at all on purpose. Square has been doing this for how long now? At some point you need to be making an effort to prevent it to not see overlap. Kind of like how Sora bears a resemblance to Cloud.

 

I didn't really make the connection to Sora and Cloud but it makes sence really because of the cutscean with Sora and Tifa when She's looking for cloud and her discription of his matches Sora
And I don's see that thing behind Marluxia looking like Death

Anyway I agree, it looks more like a reaper than anything else, aren' t the big scythe and the hood big enough hints ?

 

your death looks good but if you wanna go that far then Marluxia looks like Death anyway....... and the Marluxia thing looks like a wman I thought Death was neather

I never saw it look like Jenova, and I've played that more times than I could count. To me she always looked like the four winged version of the angel of death. How could I be so blind? (not in the Riku sense)

 

Actually the white twilight feel of it reinforces the theme of death in the Japanese culture because while for us, black equals death and white equal life; it's the other way around in the East.

As for it looking like Jenova, well Square has been known to reuse designs before as sort of a mythology gag Kind of like how Lighting is basically a female Cloud in a sense.

 

It might resemble her, but it's not. Having a person that recycles designs will get you something like this. But it's just a giant grim reaper mecha that Marluxia made to help himself.

I don't think it is JENOVA, though. I think it's just a coincidence that whatever that is and JENOVA look similar.

 

Well, i believe the one behind marluxia looks like Jenova, and looks like Death too...
i think it's both, a reference to Jenova in final fantasy and a Death, ready to "kills" Sora's memories.

"Loses everything!" -remembering Marluxia's scream this when he does one of his attacks. xD
